Or those outside of the countries listed on the DVC website (Canada, England, USA, Bahama's, Mexico, Ireland, Saoudi Arabia, Scotland, Wales)

Can we not buy DVC points? What are our options?

It means that Disney/DVC is not authorized to sell directly to you. Depending upon the laws of your country, you may be able to purchase resale.

Living outside the United States, you can purchase your DVC membership through a resale broker like ourselves. Please send us an email or call The Timeshare Store, Inc.® and we would be happy to answer any questions you might have. Click our logo above to go to our website.

Isn't our team doing well at the World Cup? You can't tell from my name but that's only because I married an Italian. I know here in Canada there are certain provinces that DVC can't start the information process. Many Canadians have to buy directly while on site no promotional info through mail or email. You yourself should contact Disney and see if there is some restrictions on them selling to you while on site and if in fact you have to go resale. I have only dealt with the Timeshare Store when I was looking at purchasing for the first time and while it might (most likely would) have saved me money we decided that we wanted the extended contract for OKW and only Disney had what we were looking for at the time.

Best of luck.

Living in Switzerland, where DVC is not a registered estate sales agent, they are not allowed to send me marketing stuff for DVC as long as I wasn't a member. I could only buy into DVC while I was on a Disney cruise (where I bought) or while visiting at WDW.

Since I'm a member now I think those restrictions no longer apply, so I should be able to buy more points over the phone for example.

No you cant, I live in Montreal, Canada , and I've tried.
I've first bought a resale and tried to addon over the phone , and my guide told me that I have to be there

O well, not planning on adding on any time soon. But I'm glad that the paperwork (Disney File, Planner etc) get to Switzerland.

Ok.
The idea was to do a small resale contract to start with and then do add-ons thru Disney.

So we actually have to be on-site for add-ons as well?

You can add-on through resale from your country (I mean buy a new contract with closing cost), but if you want to add-on through Disney, yes you have on be on site

What about payment options? If we need to finance, we'd have to get that in our own country, right?

I was told DVC automatically pre-approves loans for foreigners, but the APR is 1% higher, I think 11.75% instead of 10.75%.

I took their loan (we bought on a cruise) and once I was home, I got a better loan at a local bank with a APR of 5.9% (!!!). I then immedeatly paid back Disney in full.

With that lower APR and a faster payback schedule (3 years at my bank instead of 10 at Disney) I'm saving about $8000 in interest costs!

Thank you for your answers. I know I should have investigated further while I was on DCL last month, but there was too much to do:)

When buying from Disney, do you put the deposit on CC? and monthly payments and dues as well? Or do you need a US bank account?

We're from Canada and we just bought 200 pts VGC directly from Disney. :woohoo:

Last time we checked, only residents in Ontario and Alberta could buy direct. Why, I don't know.

We did look into resale before going direct, and was told that our location would not be an issue.

This is incorrect. Anybody can Canada can purchase directly from Disney, we did it... however Disney can only promote and do additional business with those in Ontario/Alberta within province.... those of us outside of Alberta and Ontario need to be at a DVC sales location to purchase/add on direct.

We put the deposit on our creditcard.

Annual dues will either be charged once a year from your CC or if you prefer to pay the dues monthly, you will need a US bank account. But that's pretty easy to get if you want one.

How it works with the loan repayment I don't know since I repaid the full amount before the first installment was due.

icic. My bad. We're new owners still trying to find our way around this whole new DVC world. When we started calling DVC, they emphasized the fact that they couldn't even talk to us unless we're from ON or AB, which gave us that impression.
