Just got off the phone and my banked points due to expire Nov 30/21 are now extended to Nov 30,2022. So relieved as we are still paying on our loan. I believe this is just for international owners. Can’t wait for my vaccination and for flights to resume from my Atlantic province. We currently have none with WJ and only flights to Montreal. That’s it. What a year this has been.

It’s better and more fun to use the points but it was easy to rent them for near double the dues if you are interested.

Wow thats great,,,1st I have heard of this. Need to head over to DVC area and see if its there too. Glad its worked for you.
Now I have one question,,,,what are banked points???? .lol.. we have just ever had borrowed points and with what has happened this past year we now have something call current UY points.
Need to research these banked points.

I had a trip booked for March 2000 that had to be cancelled. The points were banked into my Dec 2000 use year so had to be used by this November. Normally we usually only borrow too. Lol they would have expired as I cannot travel before then. They have been extended for a year and my other points have been banked as well so now have them until Dec 1,2022. Surely things will be more back to normal by then. I was very relieved as they were not doing this earlier when i asked. I hope it won’t be too hard to get a room booked however if there is a huge demand.

Thank you for sharing this! I have a few banked points that I would love to have extended for another year as well. I’m also from Atlantic Canada - hi neighbour!

That's great news for you DVC owners! Wonder how that would work if you were a Canadian that bought a contract with banked points expiring in fall of 2021, would they extend them? Hmmm

May I ask how you requested the extension? Is this a policy for them or is this a case by case?

I'm just wondering because I don't see anything posted on the website.

I would really love to know because I have some points expiring that we know we won't be using before the end of November.

Are you sure they are extended all the way to Nov 2022? I thought they were extending international owner expiring points only to May 31, 2022?

Are you already seeing the points in your Dec 21 bucket? I have points from Feb 20 UY banked into 2021 (i.e. showing in Feb 21 bucket). MS verbally told me they have been extended to May 31/22 (3 months, not a year) but will continue to appear in Feb 21 bucket until Jan 31/22 (I'm uncertain how they will show May 31 expiry in my account on Feb 1/22).

i used chat to extend mine and they told me it would be may 31st 2022 (im a dec use year, and these are my 2019 points, which i banked into 2020, so they expire normally on nov 30th 2021)

I just called and asked and was told they were moved to the end of my 2021 use year. It can take a month for them to show up apparently. Just checked and not showing up yet but has only been a week or so. They fill out papers and this has to be done manually unlike banking which is immediate.

After two hours I finally got through to Member services I had 2019 Boulder Ridge Villas that will expire on November 30,2021. I was told that there was no way that Disney is letting anyone extend 2019 points . Is this correct?

Not true for many of us here. Are you Canadian? They seem to be extending points for international members since borders are closed. I sent an email rather than calling. Heard back about a week later and received to extension.

It's happening for non-US owners. It's reported in the UK section of the forum too.

I just contacted them as well. They said they modified their policy for International members.

But they stated that it was only until May 31, 2022. However, it only shows up the first week of your next use year. So essentially, for a Dec 1st UY, it will be posted sometime that first week. So you cannot use it to make any booking after Dec 1st until it's been "banked" there. This also means that you may not have a lot of time to use it to book....which means busy times and popular resorts may not be available by the time you can use it.

Regardless, it's still nice that they understand the challenges that we, as Canadians and international members, have with regards to using the expiring points. I hope this works out because we don't know it worked until we see it on our next UY balance.

I'm glad it's a "policy" vs a one time thing for certain members. This means that if there's any issue, it's less likely they will deny it's existence.

Thanks for posting this Canadian Girl!

Thanks for clarifying this. I’ve been fuzzy on the usage of these points. No matter. I’m hoping for SSR anyway, as it’s a favourite. Hopefully it works out.

If it helps, I think you'll have a good chance with SSR availability. It's one of the resorts I can count on if I want to book a stay within a few months vs 11/7 months.
