DVC Experts-Banking/Borrowing ?

We're new BCV owners with a Feb use year. Just found out we might have opportunity to go to BCV in mid-November. (Can't check on availability today, because MS computers are down.) Because this trip isn't definite, would it be best to bank my 2002 points by 7/31 and borrow from 2003 for Nov trip so I wouldn't lose any points? If we can't make it in Nov, I know we can't go until end of March, 2003.

If we did borrow 2003 points for Nov trip and had to cancel, wouldn't we have until Feb 2004 to use them?

No, you wouldn't. Once points are borrowed, they cannot be returned to their original use year. If you borrow points from your 2003 use year (points are good for stays 2/1/2003 - 1/31/2004) into your 2002 use year (2/1/2002 - 1/31/2003), those borrowed points will expire on 1/31/2003 if they are not used.

In your situation, I'd suggest you book now (with your 2002 points). You can bank 100% of your 2002 points if you do it by July 31. If your trip still isn't definite by then, you will have to decide whether or not to take the chance.

Thanks, Carol, for the clarification on borrowing points. I'll probably take your suggestion and book now with 2002 points and make a final decision before 7/31.
