Did you guys get this email from DVC?

I have 2 concerns...

1) Non-members are getting 1 bedroom accommodations for $199/nt.
2) It REQUIRES that they take the tour!!

Mods: I deleted the code provided, but will add it back if you would like.

Please let me know what you all think.

What I think is that's this is an email that's been floating around for almost a week. I say yippee if it allows someone to take an otherwise impossible trip. :cool1: I also say yippee if it helps someone turn the corner on buying DVC. :goodvibes And finally I just like to say yippee!!! pixiedust:

Old news and discussed at length somewhere here on the DIS.

Disney will do anything to sell points and increase their bottom line especially in todays economy. I expect that we will see all kinds of promotions.

OP: You'd prefer they get the discounted rate w/out taking the tour?

I have mixed feelings about them getting the reduced rates for taking the tour.

Yes, I know that this is to get them to buy in...but, wreaks of the slimey timeshare tactics used by other timeshare companies.

I don't like where this is headed.

Tammy

I agree. The further DVC can stay away from "traditional timeshare company" tactics the better. I see this promotion as only increasing by a large margin the number of people taking the tour who have no intention of buying, ever. This in turn will lead to much grumpier sales staff, which in turn will lead to higher pressure tactics and all the other garbage associated with this business.

I liked the email. I liked that they were 100% up front that they did have to take the tour.

I just wish that I had someone to pass it along to!

I think the staff would be much grumpier if some were laid-off due to lack of foot traffic.

It's not like the sales staff is putting in extra hours to meet tour demand. Things are slow. And there's no reason to conclude the buy-in percentage would be any lower here than with your run-of-the-mill theme park guest who just wants a $50 gift card or immediate FastPasses in return for taking the tour.

If a friend or family wants to get a great room for 199 a night and take a non pressure sales tour, which last no more than 2 hours. I say why not!!!!

Everytime I think of a sales tour, I always think of the Married with Children episode when Al and Peggy go their FREE timeshare vacation!!! The place was such a dump. :rotfl2:

I recently had some friends at WDW that stayed at CSR and took the DVC tour using me as a reference. I think it would have been great if I could have offered them a $199 rate for a 1 bedroom. They have two small children under 7 and the washer and dryer alone would have been wonderful for them.

I think this is a great idea. :thumbsup2

actually, with some traditional timeshare places, they give you a "good" rate for a place which is actually offsite, so that when you look at theirs, it looks SO much better than where you are staying. At least here they are experiencing the accomodations that they may end up purchasing.
