DVC door magnets

I just bought at BCV and being new to DVC I'm looking at everything I can find. I saw a photo with a ship door with a nice "welcome Home" DVC magnet. is this something DCL does or are the people buying their own.
and if DCL does this are the magnet yours to keep?

DVC/DCL puts the magnets on the members' doors. And yes, they are yours to keep at the end of the cruise. They are proudly displayed on our fridge at home. And welcome to the club!

They don't. The DVC reps onboard have a list of members and put the magnets on the doors. Make sure to stop at the DVC sales location or go to the members presentation onboard. We got free lanyards and hats at the presentation and won a DVC beach towel.

Do you still get one if you are a DVC member but not sailing using points?

We sailed last time on points, and the perks were great. They had a "meeting" with a game of DVC trivial pursuit. There were hats given out and lanyards as well as DVC pins. You also got those when a DVC staff caught you wearing the hat in public on board. It was just fun! Got a couple of really cool pins too.

Yes. We did not use points on our cruise and got a magnet. The "meeting" you're talking about may be the "presentation" that I was referring to. We played a game of trivial pursuit too and that's when we won the towel. We got lanyards and hats too. There's usually one of these for members and one for non-members. Even the one for members has a little bit of a sales pitch to try to get you to add on.

A couple years ago the computer system was very consistent in identifying DVC members on the ship whether they used points or cash to pay for the cruise. On our last 3 cruises, they didn't pick us up when we paid cash.

Regardless of how you booked your cruise, you should get the magnet(s) and an invitation to the "member celebration" where you will get hats and lanyards as well as a chance to win other prizes. You can check in with the DVC rep in the terminal (just give him/her your cabin number) or on the ship.

Thank you for the answer. I had hoped that would be it! The prizes were nice, but it was the fun and the attitude of all the people there that made the event fun, exciting, and different than on any other cruise I had been on. Just to play DVC trivia was worth taking time out of the deck chair. I'm glad I get another crack at it. This time, I'm going to study stats on the DVC resorts, just to get a few more questions correct.
