DVC discount-bring your card!

What has always worked for me is to have a photograph of my DVC card and my driver's license on my iphone (which I'm carrying into the parks anyway), which I then show while paying. Knock on wood, I've never had a problem.

That is a brilliant idea. :thumbsup2

I agree that just having a MB or a DVC Member slider in no way means you're a member. Last year I had a GV on my points for a week with 10 people staying. THey sent me 10 MB's and 10 DVC sliders. I am the ONLY member in that entire bunch. I found it odd they sent the sliders for the non-members.

I do not go anywhere without carrying my photo I.D. and can't imagine anyone that does. Stuff can happen and I would want my I.D. on me. I always carry my DVC Member card because I never know when I will be somewhere that I might need it. MB technology is not yet advanced enough to include membership info and honestly, I don't think I want that kind of personal info on the MB.

Totally agree. I always have ID and a form of payment that works outside the parks. A few cards isn't really that much to keep in my pocket. You never know when you'll suddenly find yourself needing to leave the park without hitting your room first.

A few years ago I was getting off Splash Mountain, looking around for DW and DS4 when a Disney Security member came up and asked if I was <my name>. I said yes and she told me that my son had had a seizure and they were waiting for an ambulance at first aid. First Aid in MK is next to Casey's, which is a long way from Splash. By the time we got there the ambulance had left. Disney gave me 2 taxi vouchers to get to the hospital and back and a ride to the taxi pick-up point near TTC. The hospital required ID to allow me to get in to my son's room, and of course they needed insurance info before they would do anything.

The moral of the story is that while you may not need anything other than the magic band on Disney property, you never know when you'll suddenly be off Disney property and need the forms of ID and payment that are accepted by the rest of the world.

Can't imagine any way for the Disney to truly validate membership (discount entitlement) without a photo ID.

Since I really don't want my photo (or DNA or eye data, SSN or any more personal info than they already collect, etc.) in MDE (or any Disney database), I am more than willing to carry my card & ID or forego the discount.

If you are at the resorts some can print you a new card there.

We were at the Earl of Sandwich and they said the didn't give discounts for DVC members. I was mad when I saw they were one place that did. I know the 10% is not a ton but hey I want every discount I can get.
