DVC Direct Sales for August

I expect direct RIV to raise pricing soon.

I was thinking about RIV direct pricing too. I think it goes to about $210, maybe even $215 for maximum FOMO (with much notice and noise about the pending increase) after the current promotion period. That would put it more in the ballpark of a VGF initial offering of about $225-$230 during the subsequent promotional period.

I wish they would give AUL numbers. With the new incentives it almost seems like they just want to be done with that one.

DVC is not blocking AUL numbers, Hawaii is the one that blocks that information as it requires payment for each document you look at. In the past wdrl could look at a list of filings and pick up the information he need and then Hawaii blocked that too. Plus Hawaii is way back logged, months behind, on posting their deeds or at least was before the pandemic and I expect it is worse today. wdrl tells me has enough work to do just checking out the mainland resorts sells figures.

Wait so do we want riv sales to be good or bad? I thought we wanted bad so maybe dvd would get the message about the resale restrictions and how they stink?
If you own direct at RIV you probably wants sales to be great and restrictions to stay in place. Own resale anywhere else and I think you’d be nuts to root for restrictions!

RR owner here. I’d cheer the removal of restrictions. I’d like to use my other resale points there. I’d like to pick up RR on the resale market for and not have to use them at RR if I want to stay elsewhere. I’ll likely never ditch RR as that’s where my blue card minimum is met.

I think for most home resorts, unless expressly purchased for SAP, you’re staying there sometimes and sometimes not. That’s true for us too so it’s not a big deal, I’d just like the flexibility to use points as they’ve been traditionally allowed.

They will be done with that one when the resort expires. It will probably take another 10-15 years to sell out. But they really are not trying to sell it. If they did want to sell it. Put it on sale at $150 per point. It would be gone in probably a year or so, but RIV sales would suffer tremendously if they did that.

Also the constant raising for prices for sold out resorts pushes people to RIV. It is a much better investment for your dollar.
There down to 161....

RIV owner direct here and I want restrictions to be removed. I paid $181pp in July.

Now that I own both direct and resale, I certainly would be fine if the restrictions were lifted but truth be told, it doesn't matter to me one way or the other. I am just happy to see sales doing well again and moving in the right direction!

FWIW, I am not a DVC member, but I got a call this week from a DVC guide because she saw I had an upcoming trip (to Ft. Wilderness and Boo Bash) planned and wanted to know if I wanted to go on a DVC tour (which I declined). She had gotten my information through the DVC webpage chat when I inquired about military discounts on DVC purchases.

She wanted to know my thoughts about why I wasn't interested at this time, and I told her it was because I originally thought I wanted 75 or fewer points, and while I could see needing 100 now, I couldn't justify a 150 point initial purchase. While she mentioned that I might eventually need 150, that there is financing available, that I will probably spend that much over time if I keep going once or twice a year, she also specifically mentioned lower-cost options, specifically naming OKW (She may have said SSR as well). She also wondered if I might be interested in Aulani. I was the one who specifically mentioned Riviera because of Epcot access. The impression I got from this recent conversation is just that they want people to buy DVC, regardless of whether it is RIV or not.
