I know that DVC membership offers 10% discounts on dining and shopping at Disneyland and that you must present your DVC membership to get the discount - do they ask for any other ID? My parents are DVC members and I am going to Disneyland without them - but wondered if I could get away with using my mom's DVC card for disounts. Anyone have experience with this or know how sticky they are with checking ID? I know the discounts are minimal, but every little bit counts!

Thanks!!

We've been asked to show an ID along with either our AP or DVC Member Card to receive discounts.

hmmm - okay - good to know. I wouldn't want to have my mom's card confiscated - don't think she would be too happy with me. Oh well - it was worth a shot. Thanks!!

We were in Southern California in June this year. From San Diego to L.A. with a stop at Disneyland of course. They ask for ID for EVERYTHING out there. Southern California has the highest rates of Credit Card Fraud in the country. Retailers ask for photo ID for any purchase out there.

As far as DVC, yes you will need Photo ID. In WDW last month, it varied as to whether I needed just my DVC card, or my photo ID. I'd say 50% of the time I needed photo ID, but in Disneyland, I needed it 100% of the time. So I don't think you will be able to use your mom's membership card without her there. I had considered giving my brother my card when goes to WDW next, but they don't buy a lot of merchandise, and he's not going to bother with it if they check photo ID.

Ah - good point - I forgot how they check ID for everything in California. Oh well - it was worth a shot!

Surprisingly so, At WDW, the shops, the restaurants, none ( Girardelli's, Ragland;s, Olivia's, Marrakesh, Any of the Disney Stores... countless more) absolutely none, have ever asked me for an ID, they just want my DVC card! Sometimes my AP garners a bigger discount, they don't ask for ID with that either. It's easy, peasy! In California, Disneyland, who knows?

By the same token, many times the card is given with a credit card for payment, that in itself confirms somewhat who you are!
