DVC dicount pirate cruise?

no discount on the pirate cruise, and the age limit is 10. you also have to book this 90 days out or cross your fingers for a cancelation.

Lower age limit is four. Appeals mostly to the five to seven set.

My four and five year old had a great time. But they will be six and seven when we go next - and I don't think we will do it again.

No parents. Three counselors and maybe 20 kids. The kids (wearing lifejackets and pirate bandanas) get on a boat and go looking for buried treasure visiting "foreign lands" (the marinas at the Poly, Contemporary and WL). They find the treasure and get lots of "loot" (plastic junk - rings, spiders, superballs). They also get lunch (peanut butter sandwiches - unless they are allergic - juice, fruit snacks and a rice krispy bar, IIRC).

My son may be the only boy in america that does not like peanut butter sandwiches can we pack a lunch for him.

Our kids are looking foreward to doing this when we go down for our cruise in 06 our oldest will be 10 but she just loves doing treasure hunts etc they are allready talking about it LOL.

My DS-5 also hates peanut butter and jelly. He just did the Pirate Cruise on Monday and loved it! He did come off the "pirate ship" with his 2 uncrustables PB&J's, gummy bears and juice box, none of which was opened. We kind of expected that since he's a really picky eater. I'm not sure if you can bring your own lunch, we just picked him up something after. It ends at 11:30 and it was only 2 hours.

Definately call on the 90 day point. We started calling early and were put on hold for over 1/2 hour and he got one of the last slots. Now I know the pressure and stress the CRT ressies cause parents!

I'm right there with you. DS 6 does not like peanut butter, I thought he was the only one. He's going on the pirate adventure Jan 24th. He likes the other things that come in the lunch, so I guess he can eat that and I'll feed him later.

Another child that does not like peanut butter! I mentioned it when I made my reservation and they prepared him a cheese sandwich instead. When we checked in they confirmed that I had ordered the alternative meal and he was given that on the cruise.

When I called to make our ressies they said to call about 1 week before the cruise and request a non-peanut butter sandwich. My son doesn't like it either. He said that he would eat just jelly. You can call 407-WDW-DINE and ask for the number, I have misplaced it.

they really enjoyed the Pirate Cruise. Yes you do have to call early. They only take 20-24 kids out each day.

Wow I was really lucky - I just booked it today for MLK Jan 17,2005! Asked for a DVC discount but there was none - it was $28 per child but considering it is two hours of entertainment and includes lunch, well worth it!!!

:smooth: :D I have never heard of the pirate cruise can someone please supply me a little more info, I would really appreciate it! My daughter also HATES peanut butter....LOL!

from Deb Will's site)

Hope that helps!

My 3 kids and my nephew all did this (age ranges from 4 to 9) The 9 yr old felt a tad out of place at first (seemed to be mostly 7 and unders on this trip). However, kudos to the staff who made my son feel like the "big strong capable 9 yr old" that he is and gave him "special tasks" that of course only someone with his strength could do (winkwink). He was a great companion for his 4 yr old sister, too.

BTW -- once the kids set sail, my SIL and I had a grand time over a relaxing kid-free breakfast in the GF Cafe... very nice!

My kids did this last Wednesday...though they did not do the cruise they did an indoor pirate adventure due to the cold weather. My oldest is 9 and this was his third time....first was when he was 4, second on his 7th birthday and there have been some changes over the years...mostly for the better, according to him (I won't argue on the cost...which has doubled!). This was our 4yo's first time and I think she liked having her brother there. My son was definitely the biggest of the crew...but still would like to go again.

I'm so glad to hear about the positive response from the older kids. My son is 10 and will be going with his sister 4 and two male cousins, 4 & 6. He's a little wary but really good about being the older & wiser kid - especially with my two nephews, lovingly referred to as the flying squirrels. I know he'll get nto it once they get going.

So I need to call right at 90 days out? Do I call the DINE number then?

I feel a little hesitant cause my oldest daughter is allergic to peanuts, but they want to do this really badly. They have done the Alice tea and LOVED it. They handled her allergy very well, but this one is on a boat. Makes me a tad nervous.

I can't believe I need to book this soon for our spring break trip. EGADS! I still haven't finished planning hubby and mine anniversary trip! :charac2:

Shan, I wouldn't worry too much about the food thing. My kids didn't actually eat anything on the cruise. I think it was more like they handed them the lunch bags as they departed the boat, and that seems like mostly what I have heard others say. You might just instruct your daughter to wait to eat hers until she is with you. That way you can check it all out. DH and I also had a nice breakfast at the GF cafe while we waited on the girls. We walked down to the dock and watched them pull into the marina. The girls loved it. The 8 year old more so than the 4year old. But at least your girls like mine, had their automatic built in buddies, so at least that makes them a little more comfortable.

Thanks Erin. That makes me feel better. I was gonna try to call the Grand Floridan and hunt someone down before I booked it just to make sure it was OK.

Sooo, I'm having a hard time finding correct info. AllEars, PS Planning Guide and Passporter all have different info regarding days and times. Anyone know?

And I gather I need to call 90 days out, but do I need to call right at 7 or can I wait until later in the day? (This will be for an early April trip.)

Thanks!

We called the WDW-DINE number at 90 days out at 7am. DH was on hold for over 30 minutes on the cell phone and I was on hold longer on our "land"line. DH was transferred a few times and I was still on hold. (We only needed one res for DS, I wasn't going to make multiple ressies :) I didn't want DH to get cut off so I stayed on hold, just in case he did. As soon as she gave him a confirmation number I hung up. I was on hold about 45 minutes) DS got one of the last slots.

I wouldn't wait, treat it like CRT. Since all the guide books are mentioning it now, it's become very popular. I think they hold a certain amount of slots for the GF concierge guest, but not sure. They only have about 20 spaces.
