Those who are cruising soon should keep an eye on Frances. Not only is there a chance of the storm hitting at Port Canaveral, it looks like Nassau may take a pretty good blow later today. We'll have to see how Castaway Cay makes out, too.

Disney evacuated Castaway Cay in 1999 when Floyd came through. They diverted the MAgic there and picked up all the cast members. I would wager that the 4 day cruise that was suppose to stop there yesterday picked up cast members and headed to Canaveral. Canaveral has announced that all ship must be out of port by 10:00AM tommorrow or face fines. I am sure DCL will be dropping people off today to avoid the fines.

There are several threads regarding Hurricane Frances on the cruise line board and one of them states that the CM's on CC were evacuated. I believe they might have been evacuated by the Wonder on Tuesday. The Wonder which leaves out of Port Cavaneral today will be what is described at the "cruise to nowhere". They will spend all 3 days at sea and make no port stops. There is no information on the Magic which is due back into port on Sat. Because they knew there was a chance they would not make it, the Magic went to CC on Sun instead of this Friday.

Seems like a "cruise to nowhere" would be very bumpy. Given they can't predict the exact path, I wonder how they manage to stay away from the storm??

You steam East and then a bit South. The storm makes a big blip on any radar system :)

You also tie down all the grand pianos very carefully.

How would you all feel about being on this "Cruise to Nowhere"? I think I would cancel. The paths that hurricanes take are so unpredictable. I would be afraid that we would end up in its path. Any other time I would love a "Cruise to Nowhere" because sea days are my favorite.

I think it is simple math here. The hurricane is moving at 13 MPH. Magic and Wonder can move at 26 mph. In the period of the cruise it can cover lots of distance since it can move virtually the whole time. If they leave port, head east and then south they move around and behind the storm.

If I were on board I would be extremely concerned about what I was returning to. That would be of high, high concern.
