Hi- Can we pay a cruise on partial points. Can we pay cash for the first 2 adults and then pay the points for the kids?

Yes you may - you will do this through MS. Just be aware that you will pay the $75 exchange fee and you will be charged in full at time of booking for the two adult fares (cash). (Unlike just a deposit through DCL).

Oh- I misunderstood- I thought there was no exchange fee for Disney Collection trades- I see now DCL is the exception.

Not sure exactly what it stands for - but there is definitely a $75 fee.

Also - ask what the cancellation policy is - I know if you cancel they become reservation points - it's in the member book and I always write it down and don't pay attention. We have been lucky so far and never had to cancel.

We are going on our fouth cruise this July (Eastern, Western and West Coast) and always use two cabins for our family of five - have always used a different combination of points and cash.

We are also a family of 5 and may decide at some point to do a short cruise. We cruised DCL once and did a cat 4, which was fine for 4 nights. It looks to me like paying cash for adults and using points for kids may work the best for us- but I haven't crunched the numbers. If you do 2 cabins- do you have to pay for 4 adults and 1 child?

Yes, the first two in cabin are always adult fare. Depending on the age, you might have to list your or your wife in one cabin. We did this once also. We also usually list my dd in cabin with my sons but she stays in our cabin. We have them make an extra room key and we move lifejackets and put them back when done. We have done - 2 cat. 11s. second cruise a cat. 11 and one cat. 6 across. Third cruise one cat. 11 and one cat. 8. We are doing the same for our med. cruise. It all depends on finances, ages, etc. We found it to be less expensive getting two lower cat. My sons are now 21 and 19 and like (have always liked) having their own cabin/space/bathroom, etc.

You might even consider two connecting or adjoining cabins.

I doubt our sons will be cruising with us (or dcl) anymore unless there is a big family reunion or friends come along.
