Hi Everyone,

I just had a call from my friend who is supposed to arrive at VWL tomorrow but can't go until Tuesday. I told her the policy is you must cancel/modify your reservation at least 24 hours before you go.....but it is Sunday & the office is called what do you do?
She already called the resort directly and they told her it was something only DVC could modify even if it means losing points. They could do nothing and had nobody to refer her too....
TIA for any advice or suggestions!:)

Since they can make points reservations at the resort even when MS is closed (this actually happened to us, so I know for a fact that it can be done and that they have a protocol to do it--it was for a same day reservation on a holiday where MS was closed and we were stranded in Orlando). I suspect the issue is simply one of the fact that the reservation is not until tomorrow night. The big thing is to not get the ENTIRE reservation cancelled because they don't show up tomorrow night. I would call the resort back and inform them that they weren't showing up till Tuesday, and then call MS tomorrow to deal with the points implications.

Agree, I would call the resort and let them know we are still coming and checking in later. They can hold the reservation. If they think she is a no show, they will cancel the reservation completely.

This will be considered a same day cancellation of the first day, so the points will be lost for the first night.

Actually the points for the entire stay are considered used the first night. So if someone checks in on time, and leaves a few days early, they do not get any points refunded. Likewise a no-show would have all the points for the entire reservation considered used, and no refund of any points would occur.

Make sure MS understands they are coming in one day later. If they treat it as a no-show, you lose all the points for the entire reservation, not just for the one day.

You will not receive any points back since it's too late to basically 'modify' your reservation.
