We have a family vacation planned for August. We are thinking of sending me down a couple days ahead of DH & the boys. I would fly down on a Thursday, they would drive and would arrive Saturday noonish. Since it would just be me, and since I just about 50 points by switching from a Boardwalk view to a standard view for our family trip, I am thinking of splurging on a studio on a concierge floor.

We have never stayed on a concierge level. Which of the DVC resorts offer it? I am thinking AK & WL do, but I'm not sure where else does.

Are all the concierge lounges about the same as far as snacks and amenities, or are some "better" than others, or is it just a matter of preference?

Saturday will be my check-out day. At what point would I no longer have access to the concierge lounge? Is it at 11 when the official check-out time is, or is it the whole day?

If DH and the boys arrive and I still have access to the lounge, would I be able to bring them up to it? I would have a studio which would hold 4, so would only 4 of us be able to go in - or only those listed on the room.....should I list them on the room even if they don't actually stay there??

Is there anything else I should take into consideration??

Do you have it booked already? There are only five of them.

AKL (Jambo) is the only place that has club level DVC. they usually have to be booked at 11 months.

I have stayed at WL club level, but it was a regular room (cash) and the only have food out at breakfast and then they clean up and they *might* have lunch (i am not sure) and then dinner. I think eveything is cleaned up by 10 pm.

Have fun!

No I have nothing booked except our family-trip rooms. My "solo" days are still in the discussion phase.

There are only five what??

Oh - that must be the only 5.......I was not aware that AK was the only DVC with a concierge. Like I said, it's nothing we have ever done before so I've never looked into it before now.

Ok thanks - I have read different trip reports of people staying on concierge levels, but never gave much thought to whether they were DVC or cash - especially at the resorts that have both.

Well, it looks like this idea probably won't pan out after all....oh well, wherever I wind up, I am sure it will be good.

Thanks!!

There are only five Concierge Level studios at AKV. None of the other DVC resorts have concierge level. And the five studios all connect to a one bedroom. So if someone reserves a two bedroom, it takes a studio out of inventory.

You can currently use points to stay at Concierge level at YC, Polynesian and GF, but they use a whole lot of points. Much more than the AKV studio. For the weekend, they would use from 74 to 94 (Fri night) or 64-82 (Thurs night) points per night during August depending on which resort you were booking.

You would be quite lucky to snag AKC at this point.

For a solo trip, I highly recommend the Epcot Resort Area... either BWV or BCV. Both are great to stroll around, and walking distance to Epcot. Lots to see and do, but also quiet areas to relax in... While not concierge, still nice.

I have gotten two different two night AKL-CL stays at four and six months out. These were reserved in June for mid-Oct and early Dec.
No harm is calling MS and asking. You might get lucky too. pixiedust:

Many people have reported getting an AKV Concierge room 7 months out so give it a try! Since you are looking to book just a few nights you might get lucky. The days you are looking for are days when they do not have the Sunrise Safari so that would increase your chances of getting a room.

You would be able to access the lounge on your check out day. I'm not sure if it's all day or not. On our one stay there we used the lounge until our DME bus departure time, maybe 3pm or so, and that wasn't a problem. I could see where they might have an issue if you were still there after 6pm but I really don't know what the rules are. If you list your DH and kids on your reservation (maximum four people including yourself) you could bring them up to the lounge.

The lounge offers a continental breakfast (cereal, fruit, pastries, juice, coffee), snacks in the afternoon (cookies, lemonade, potato chips), appetizers, wine and desserts in the evening. You get mousekeeping every day and nightly turndown service.

I also second Laurabearz's suggestion to consider an Epcot resort. Great location for a solo visit.

We are staying at boardwalk for our family portion of the trip so I was thinking of trying something different for a couple days. I guess when we decide for sure whether I am going early I will check on AK, if it's not available, then I will have a plan b. I like the epcot resorts because I use a scooter down there and I can avoid buses over there, but since I won't be concentrating on parks those days I'm not as worried about that. I was also considering Saratoga since it has path to downtown Disney.
