DVC club/dining plan/can just some be on?

I have a friend who is going to Disney and staying with another couple. The other couple is part of the DVC. The other couple is using their points for a 2 BR villa. The other couple does not want the dining plan though. Can my friend and her family get the dining plan WITHOUT the other couple having to get it since it's all on one reservation?

Nope. It's all or none for a single reservation.

On the other hand, with some creative use of "segmenting", it might be possible to gain the same effect by having a dining plan for roughly half the nights, alternating some on, some off, and only having half of the party actually use the credits (and pay for them, of course).

As complicated as that is, though, it might be best to just forgo the dining plan.
