We have booked our first trip for Christmas at VWL (for now ~ hope to change to BCV). My question is this, are there any airlines out there that discount for the week before Christmas?

We typically drive from Kansas to Orlando, but were hoping to be able to fly for the quick trip we have planned 12/19-12/24. Any help anyone can give is greatly appreciated!!

I have no clue about your airfare, but I was just wondering why you would want to change to BCV for an Xmas ressie? The Lodge is the most beautiful then.

We love the location to Epcot and the boardwalk! That is our favorite place to be!!

I have reservations at OKW our home resort for 12/26-12/31/04 and was thinking of trying to get VWL at 7 months...Would be fine with OKW, but think WL is very Holiday ish!

We have heard the same thing about VWL, and would be very happy staying there, if we are unable to change our reservations. We find we spend most of our time in the evenings at Epcot and love being able to walk back and forth to our resort after the fireworks. At this point in time, we are happy to have a room to go to at Christmas. We are very excited about seeing all of the decorations! If we are not able to change our reservation, we will still be just as excited to stay at the VWL!!

A 12/19 departure will have you already into the Christmas Week. My experience has been that fares tend to keep on increasing and the availability keeps going down as you get closer to Christmas. It's not too early to start looking at fares and, if you see a good one, nab it. I once got an excellent fare by booking well in advance. Remember, not only Walt Disney World but all of Florida are a popular destination for the holidays (Christmas and Chanukkah). If you are going to rent a car, don't waste too much time booking that either. They tend to go quickly as Christmas approaches.

I have already purchased tickets for 12/19 through 12/24. We are doing a multi-city plane ride so I wasn't quite sure how much to spend. I knew whar the price was @ 331 day mark and saw them rise. Well, I got $449.50 and booked it. Three days later it went to $424.50, so I requested vouchers for the difference.

I have a GREAT price on a car rental. We start our AP's in August, so we are set.

I figure I got an okay price on airfare and if it happens to decrease again I will call for another adjustment. I am not holding my breath though.

If you find a price you can live with I say GO FOR IT!::yes::

As a former Southwest flight attendant, I will tell you that Southwest DOES do the same discounts at Christmas that it does every other time of the year, but the number of seats may be limited. I think Southwest is only allowing travel to be booked thru Sept 13, but you might want to go ahead and check that.

If I were you, I would check southwest.com every day, (or call and see when they are going to open up those days), and book the day those flights open. You will get $99 or less, each way for all members of your family.

Good luck,
Beca

Hi,

I stayed at VWL during Christmas and it was beautiful. We visited other DVC resorts during our stay and none compared to the WL. Everything was perfectly decorated and holiday stories were even being read by the fireplace. You will not be disappointed if you stay there.....even with the longer commute to Epcot.

We will also be in WDW from the 18th to the 23rd. We're actually
using frequent flyer miles on Southwest to get there so it's a free trip! (Well, almost). Southwest seems to give the best deals.
We're flying in Sept and for the 3 of us, our total airfare
is $525! Love those discounts. See you there!

Thanks for all the help! Wish we were heading down there this weekend!! I have Disneyitis big time!

We have been flying around the christmas holidays for 10 years, as stated by OP the best deals are usually taken at 331 days. Check the fares everyday and book when you see something that looks good. There are NO 99 seats to/from FLA over Christmas. Look to alternate airports like TPA and try to be very flexible. I have already book for Presidents weeks.
WDW is fantastic during the holidays

Do take warm clothes with you...it can be VERY cold. Have a great trip. ::MickeyMo
