Sounds interesting, where can we get more info. I will check teh DVC members only site and DIS DVC board.

After the last Members Only Cruise I asked that we as members get more notice. So this is good.

So many cruises, so little money. If I even mention another cruise my DH will kill me. But the member cruises are so special. We were on the last one and we really enjoyed it.

I have looked at the members website and nothing is posted about this. How did you find out and when will they officially announce so we can see the cost?

I love how people find out before the wmwber website announces anything. ( But that gripe is for another forum
;) )

Thanks
Judy

but rather hidden. You have to surf it a bit...

I was really excited there was another DVC cruise (we missed the first one), but...

1. My DD's school starts in Aug. and she would miss 3 or 4 days. (8th grade makes it more difficult, plus it's the beginning of the semester.)

2. It would still be pretty hot in the islands.

3. It's hurricane season.

Ok, after I got all hyped for this cruise my DH pointed out all these things (he was hoping it was in Feb. or Mar.) After this last hurricane season, I just don't think it would be what we want to do. Man! I think it would be so much fun...

But, as you can see we're going to DW in April. DD is singing in DW in 2006 and we're going to do it up large, so...

Hope others enjoy the cruise. I'm afraid we won't be going............:(

It is on the member site, it went up yesterday. There is a headline link toward the bottom of the main page, with links inside to the points chart. Good luck!

We're going to try to book it! We weren't members for the last cruise, but the reports all say it was special, so we're game!

Guess I shouldn't point out that Farmer's Almanac predicts a hurricane in FL between Sept 1 and 7 of 2005 huh? :(

The members website also says that everyone is going to be notified by mail as to the call in date (October 23).

The only thing I don't like is that if you are going to use cash for any of the ressie it has to be paid 100% on October 23, which is only 1 week after my final payment for the 10 day 12/18 Christmas Cruise!!!!

Too bad that couldn't do it at a different time. We would definitely go.

But, we are getting back from our 2 weeks on the Magic on the 3rd. I wish we had unlimited vacation time!

Did anyone else think it was very pricey?? It costs about the same as our 7 night!!!

I have been a DVC member for about 10 years.

I visit WDW about once a year using my DVC Points, and most recently have made reservations for cash on a 3 day cruise in early 2005 and a 7 day in late 2006.

I try to stay enthusiastic about being a DVC member, but increasingly I do not see substantive benefits from being a DVC member.

In a quick review of the point chart for the DVC Member Cruise at a Cat 6 level, it appears to me to require slightly more points for the DVC Member Cruise then a regularly scheduled 4 day cruise, at that time of the year.

There are many things that go into being "special". One of those things are getting more for less by virtue of the fact that I am a member.

It would be informative if individuals who attended previous member cruises could outline why it is more special than a regularly scheduled cruise. It appears not to be because it is less expensive (at least with points) than a regular cruise.

Ray - someone asked a similiar question on the DVC site. Here is my response.

What makes it different than a regular cruise:

*Different itineary than a regular cruise. 2003 we did CC twice, this time Key West instead of Nassau.

*Lots of themeing. Everywere we went from the terminal to the buffet was the member cruise logo. Lots of welcome homes as well!

*Some special events. One of the ship tours which is usually done by a member of the cruise staff was done by one of the Imagineers who helped design and outfit the Wonder!

*Special entertainment. We had Andrea McArdle (the original Annie) and her family for a special show one night.

*Last, but by no means least, you're cruising with your neighbors! When they hoisted the DVC flag and said we were taking over the ship it was great.

We met a lot of great DIS'ers on that cruise. People I consider friends. We got to meet up with many of them again at Member Homecoming and look forward to sailing with them again on this sailing. As the Master Card commercial goes - that's PRICELESS!

Thanks.

I believe they can, but honestly I hope they don't. The last Member Cruise was so popular that it sold out in a day and a half. I'm sure there were some members who wanted to go who couldn't. I'd like to see the cabins (and the goodies that come with them) go to members. Just my 2 cents.

Ray, there was also a gift of some sort from DVC left in the stateroom everynight. The two I remember right off hand are a Steamboat Willie teapot and a wonderful blue bag that I still use as my "briefcase" for work everyday.

Unfortunately, it's not really over labor day weekend, is it? It's over labor day, but it's the Sunday through Thursday. Between that (lots of lost school days) and the super high cash prices which have to be booked through DVC, i.e., no great TA discounts, I won't be going.

My husband and I swore that the next time they did a Member Cruise, that we would be on it. We didn't go the first time and were really sorry when we read about how fun it was. So when I heard that there was another cruise coming up, I was so excited...until I looked at the dates! Our oldest daughter is graduating from college on the 9th. Since September seems to be prime hurricane season, I just can't risk not being able to get back home in time to see her graduate! I am sooo disappointed!
