DVC Canvas Bag from Mail Order

An interesting experience ordering the DVC "exclusive" canvas bag from Disney World Mail Order, number listed on member website. We are new OKW owners as of 9/24/02 and are very excited. Want everything DVC so we called to order the bag.
While very nice, the operator knew nothing about the $40.00 bag and asked me to hold. When she came back, she said there was a rucksack with a DVC emblem for $40.00, "Maybe that is it?" she said. I ordered it along with the double CD of WDW park music.
She also never asked for my DVC member #?

Oh well, we'll see what the bag looks like when it gets here.
Anyone else have similar experience?

HMMM, not sure what that would be! The backpack that was $40 was given out to new memgbers last year. Those of us who joined earlier got a beach bag that is ecru with the logo on the side and blue handles. We LOVE that onc, since we can carry it to the parks easily over the shoulder.

Its a blue top load canvas backpack with brown leather-looking(more vinyl looking) straps and top cover. Its kind of neat and has a side zipper for eassy access to the bottom if you have it loaded with towels but your keys slide to the bottom .

I bought at BCV back in Aug and was "given" one along with a Mickey hand name tag and Stitch button.

TCaron, I just became a member 2 weeks ago and received this backpack free with the package that is sent with all the paperwork to sign. Didn't you get one with your package?

They bought a resale and I don't think they are sending them out with resales. Along with a BCV purchase early Aug, I just received my member cards for an OKW resale I had offered on in July that closed early Sept. All I've received was a guidebook(don't know which ID it is for) and my cards. I doubt Disney would send them for a resale, they "gave away" the bag for those points years ago.

On another topic, I thought it was odd that my card for the resale says I have been a member since 9/96 now.

I also thought it was strange when I opened my new membership card (from a re-sale, OKW) and noticed that it says I've been a member since 94.

Does anyone know for sure that the resale buyers don't get the "FREE" backpack. I would love it, I also want everything DVC!!!!!!

One more question, how do I pot the countdown clock in my signature. I just booked my first ressie for Dec. to catch Mickey's Christmas Party and I'm very excited.

It is true that when you buy a resale, you don't get any of the "Thank you" gifts from Disney. That would include the backpack.

Only way to get it is to buy it (now that it's available).

Yep -- that Ebay one sure looks like the one they gave us when we signed on the dotted line... I don't care for it -- too hard to open. Mine is just holding DVC paperwork in the closet. Maybe I can sell it on Ebay and use the $35 to get a big DVC tote?

Can we buy DVC stuff online? I would like to get gifts for family members.
