dvc buying process

This question came to me after just answering to another thread.
How long does (or should) the buying process take when purchasing DVC (BCV) through Disney? I gave my guide the credit card information for my deposit on 8/22. He said he would send me the paperwork for the purchase, and that it would arrive FedEx.

I then called my guide on Tuesday, August 27th, and found he was out of the office until Thursday, the 29th. So I called him on Thursday, and he said, "You didn't get your paperwork yet?" I told him no. When he looked in his computer, he said there must have been a glich, and that it wasn't going out till that day (the 29th). OK. So, if the paperwork is arriving FedEx, and even with the holiday, shouldn't I have received it by now?? I haven't even gotten a notice that they attempted to deliver it.

My guide did tell me that if I do not receive any paperwork within 7 days (which will be tomorrow), to call him. I'm just curious, as to the normal time frames for everything, because if I'm not mistaken, I believe I've read people have closed within two weeks, and I'm working on two weeks waiting for my initial paperwork.

I'm just anxious and excited, but at the same time, I'd also like to make a ressie for next June, and I know that's a busy time of year. Also, I couldn't get a member number yet, because I only gave a partial amount on my initial down payment (I'll be sending a check for the rest of the down payment with my origingal paperwork). Any ideas or suggestions? I really appreciate it.

No. It could actually take until today if it was sent regular Fed Ex. If it was sent after 5 pm on the 29th, it is possible that it did not make it into the system until the 30th. Second day air from the 30th might not be delivered until the 2nd business day, which would be today. If you are really worried, ask them to track the package for you.

I am in the same boat (sort of).

We called about an add-on a few weeks ago and the paperwork is supposed to be on the way. I called yesterday and my guide is off this entire week.

The paperwork seemed to get to us so quickly back in Jan, but that could have been the fact that we were in WDW and took the tour on Wednesday so they had a few days while we were in a different world ;)

If it is not at home today I will be calling my guides back-up she lists on her voice mail and have her check on the paperwork.

I am hoping that it is just many NYers (taking the deal for the old price -- like us ;)) bogging down the process of getting the papers out.

Sometimes the paperwork get backed up, and it takes a few extra days to get your contracts. Are you getting antsy because you want to make reservations? If so, you can call your guide, and get your Membership# so that you can book ressies immediately. You don't have to wait until you send your paperwork back. If it was an add on, your new points may already be in your account. HTH.

It actually took my paperwork 3-4 days to reach me from the time that I talked to my guide. He told me that they were about a week behind at that time. This was mid-August. I don't think that they send it overnight FedEx either.

When I sent my paperwork back it was pre-marked 2nd day business, which sometimes means third day.

Surely if you don't receive your paperwork by the end of the week I'd call them back. You could also call them and get the tracking number. Then you can track it on FedEx's site. That's what I did

Thanks for the info. I'm definitely going to call if I don't receive anything tomorrow (that will be one week from the day I last spoke to my guide). I feel a little better now knowing it could take that long, but I'm just so excited, I want to get it all rolling!

I'm planning next year's vacation, and can't wait for it to be through DVC!:Pinkbounc

Again, thanks for your help and advice.

I purchased an add-on in July, 2002 BCV via my credit card. I spoke to my guide ( Kelly Jo Williamson) in the am and I was able to use the additional points in the pm. It was that simple. The paperwork followed within the next two weeks. The deal has been completed.

She facilitated the entire process for me and it was a pleasure dealing with her. My first purchase was a resale.
