DVC at Christmas - 1 BR availability

We're going to Disney for Christmas!!

I'll be booking our home resort (SSR) at our 11 month window. I hope to switch to a split stay at our 7 month window to two other resorts. Any idea on which other resorts might have availability for a 1BR between Dec 20 and Dec 29?

Many, if not most of them. High point cost and one-bedrooms make for lower demand.

We managed to get BLT, BWV and SSR at 7 months over Xmas, but couldn’t get a run of 7, so it was 3 short stays at different resorts for 2 weeks. Home resort is SSR.

First, congrats on heading there for Christmas! Such a wonderful time of year to see the decorations and get in the holiday mood. However, you will find it difficult to to book some resorts at 7 months during that time, in particular both VWL and the new Copper Creek. The WL is perhaps the best-decorated, best-themed resort during the holidays, and it's a very tough get, even 1BRs. Likewise, VGF is also very iffy given its proclaimed status as the flagship resort at WDW. While either might have something open up at 7 months, the odds aren't in your favor, and they're traditionally the hardest to reserve then, especially WL. I suspect OKW will have openings then, and after that it's a toss up with the other resorts. Poly has no 1BRs, so that's out. AKV is a fairly good bet, I think.

@skier_pete came up with a break down of possibilities a couple of years ago, and I believe it to be fairly accurate, although you will always find exceptions. Did someone call my name? We are working on an update of that thread to include all the 1-bedroom units, but when I started it, we were about 5 months out from December, so I don't really have a feel yet for 1-bedroom availabilty. However, I think you will be able to get into places like BWV and BLT in the most common room categories. Certainly AKV and possibly you can get a block at VWL in a 1-bedroom - though maybe not the whol week. I think BCV and VGF are probably pretty unlikely.
