dvc at CBR???? true or not

That thought occurred to me too - that now might be a good time to buy at VWL.

On the other hand, they may just go with the difference in lease as a sell point. Still gotta imagine they won't want VWL prices to be too low during that time and could easily decide to ROFR anything below a certain mark.

Maybe the new building (s) will have a different booking category which they could spin off as a new "home" resort--- giving the new contracts with longer life the 11 month window for the new category... maybe.

Except that the word is they are going to convert existing rooms to DVC. If that's the case, they can't call it a separate resort. Also rumors that they're will be villas on the water, but I don't know if they can call that a separate resort either.

true-- I thought I saw a new building on those old "leaked" drawings. You would think they would want more than an AKL 5th floor add on--- more on the lines of Kidani...

I can honestly say I know every square inch of that property...
And those 64 unit figure 8 buildings aren't conducive to conversion.

And why on earth would anyone buy DVC at them? Caribbean has bad services, a bad layout, a "standalone checkin" idea that was very quickly removed from all future designs, and is isolated like no DVC ever has been before.

And also, the "water front" construction doesn't work either. The "lake" at Caribbean isn't very impressive like the other locales...though the property is large.

If they actually do this...it represents jumping the shark. This takes the timeshare down a level and that is - AGAIN - a line i hope they are not foolish enough to cross.

Hard to say what is planned, and what is planned is probably not final. The only thing that seems fairly certain is the idea of converting some amount of existing rooms. Suppose they could also add on another wing as well. If they add on too much, they'll need to increase the amenities as well, but I'm sure that wouldn't stop them.

Sorry we moved to villas at WL. I fully agree about CB

I would guess the "southeast wing" of the main lodge - the one between the restaurants and the DVC building...would be a full gut/ conversion...creating somewhere in the range of 100-200 new villas.

The over the waters grand villas are a logical step... As apparently their polling obviously tells them (i imagine that is based on the success of the treehouses - which unlike Saratoga is never available...and their feedback that resulted on the poly construction) would be a smash hit. Remember also that no large accommodations were built at wilderness in the first place... Which I think they regret.

I also think beach club will get something similar as well... In a retrofit. (They wouldn't block the view of boardwalk!!!! ...ummm, yeah, they would)

A new construction wing or add on to the DVC unit would be third on the priority list I would think. But if this is the replacement for the "buffalo junction" concept... Then I could see it.

And it would work...as in I would stay there with high frequency because the theme is possibly the best on the property. It is just a great design...but, at current rack rate is highly overpriced.

We've stayed at CBR our last two trips, and while I won't agree with you on the bad service - we had very good experience except for all the MB problems with a split stay - the layout is VERY spreadout, making the bus service slow, and the standalone check-in is pretty awful, not so much for the check-in part, but when you have issues during your stay.

I think if they build a DVC in the vicinity, it would basically have to be it's own thing, but take advantage of the infrastructure of the resort. It would almost have to have it's own buses as well, because one of the worst things of staying there is waiting for a bus.

If you look at google maps you can see the check in building (Custom House) is actually very, very close to the back of Epcot. I wonder if they built a DVC resort in the vicinity of Custom House - either next to it, or between Aruba and Barbados - and again give it it's own pool and some additional facilities (store). How to direct link it to Epcot might be trickier, because you have a major route (Beuna Vista Drive) between there and Epcot, but you could come into Epcot through a new waterway between China and Germany.

It would be a LOT of effort though to do all this, so it still makes me suspicious to think it won't ever happen.

I wonder by the time they do Poly, VWL expansion, BC/YC expansion, if they also do a DHS makeover, do they build a DHS resort/DVC? I'm just blue-skying here.

Sorry... I meant the "service facilities" are bad...not the individuals. Indeed, Caribbean has always had one of the highest employee/guest ratios on the property - particularly house keeping.

But that's just it... It's a logistics nightmare. The "customs house" is one of the truly short sighted moves in Disney resort history...a two hour wait to checkin in a building with zero amenities.
That's been reduced with the online process now...but still. And then once you get through with that...you're hell and gone from the rooms.

There were rumors years ago that they considered moving checkin to an add on to OPR...
But in a rare occurrence - Disney didnt have enough land - bonnet creek is right off the outer loop

I agree that if all that other DVC stuff is built/added on too... At that point it wouldn't make sense to go to Caribbean... Unless they somehow figure a way to hook pop/ AoA/Caribbean onto STUDIOS directly.

That's the angle...a dead end waterway that would force major changes to the buena vista drive and the EPCOT service areas would be pointless from most angles...while putting a new, expanded studios (we're all hoping and/or assuming) next to a large, 5000 room compact cluster of rooms would be wise. And then studios would have direct resort access from a total of 8 properties.

Damn, we're agreeing AGAIN! That's like 5 times this month. Is it a full moon?
