I hate to ask this and I hope I’m in the right place, but do you think there’s any thought that there will be some additional incentive, discount or respectful consideration by offering DVC members a better deal on annual passes than what’s presented? Something along the Black Friday sale or are we in an era with capacity and the 50th but there’s no incentive for them to be nice to the most loyal guest?

You never know. I really liked the 13 month AP that you were also able to get vouchers for....if I recall that was a surprise. We do get a discount on APs. We don’t need to renew yet, but I’m dreading the price increase.

DVC members don’t get a discount on AP’s per se, but rather qualify for a less expensive, more restrictive, pass.
I should say some members qualify.

I consider the sorcerer's pass which some DVC members qualify for as a discount compared to the regular Incredi-pass.

It’s really just a different pass. It’s cheaper not because members get a discount, but because it has blackout dates.

That said, under the old pass structure (some) members did indeed get a discount on the platinum pass.

Sorcerers pass is an annual pass as far as I’m concerned. Suits us fine. It’s not a monthly pass or a weekly pass. And DVC didn’t always get this discount at all. I remember paying full price .... and was happy that the renewal price was cheaper.
So tiring......

Previously there was both, access to Gold AP's and discounts on Platinum AP's. They replaced Gold with Sorcerer but didn't continue with the discount on the top AP's without blackouts.

True. If you need the incredi pass then there aren’t any discount anymore.

Other than a slight discount to renew your AP, I doubt we will see any other discounts.

I'm really happy with the sorcerer pass, but then I don't need access at Thanksgiving or Christmas.

I consider that a discount because I'm not a Florida resident and don't have any options other than the Incredipass. Florida resident members have cheaper options too.

Taking away the discount for the top no blackout pass turned out to be about a $400 increase for FL Residents and DVC Members, a 44% increase. I’m thankful for the Sorcerer pass, luckily I did an early renewal.

I wrote into DVC Member Satisfaction about this. We purchased FWs over Thanksgiving and the week after at CCV, as we have family in FL and figured it would be a great tradition going forward. We’re a family of 4 and my SIL is a family of 6. Disney never blocked out Thanksgiving before and now they are, representing a $1600 for my family and $2400 for her family increase in AP costs — $2400 and $3600 when you account for the $200 increase in the Sorcerers AP over the Gold AP. And the $99 for one of us to get Memory Maker.

(And then add in daily Genie+…! I was surprised there wasn’t an option like with the old Disneyland APs to add Genie+ to the APs, but that’s a whole other discussion).

We have a GV booked this year for Thanksgiving and now we’re doing a resort only stay. My SIL absolutely cannot afford the price increases, and while we could, I have no desire to pay those prices for just a few days in the park. We’re coming back for a big friends and family trip in February, so we’ll buy Sorcerers passes then and my SIL can buy the Pirate Pass.

Im hoping maybe they won’t block Thanksgiving going forward if enough people complain, or at least offer a discount on the Incredi-Pass. My fear is that in a few years, Disney will have priced us out even as DVC owners.

I think the argument about whether the Sorcerer pass is a "discount" or not is largely splitting hairs. You cannot buy it unless you have DVC/are a resident, so yes, it's basically a discount since you otherwise have to purchase the pricier pass. But no, they do not give you an additional "discount" on the purchase price. You could argue it either way but ultimately I'm happy to have access to a lower price pass that's only blacked out during times I'm not really interested in going anyway due to crowds.

To answer the OP no I doubt it. In my view, they have no need to incentivize AP purchases. People already buy them. They held them back for over a year +, creating FOMO and I'm sure it worked!

Yes. DVC members may purchase the Sorcerers annual pass for family members who reside at the same address as the DVC member

As above, yes, but when you activate his pass (whether at time of in-person purchase or after purchasing by phone/online), he'll need to be there with his photo ID showing the same address as yours, and you'll have to be there to show your DVC membership card.

To add, bills that show both the owner and family members address are the same will also work if there is no photo ID to match.

I’ve been researching the Sorcerer’s pass and just want to be sure I have the info correct.

My info: We are blue card members with Platinum passes that expired 20 days ago. We plan to renew with the Sorcerer’s Pass.

It appears that the 30 day discount window is no longer applicable. No matter when we renew, we pay full price. Since we don’t have a trip planned for at least 3 months, I don’t see a good reason to do it within the 30 days.

Am I missing something? Is there an advantage to renewing within the window? Thanks.
