DVC AP Room Discounts

I am going to order our tickets from UT and convert them to DVC AP when we arrive. Can I book an AP discounted room now (before we leave home) since I don't have the AP? I thought perhaps as long as I have it at check in it would be ok.

Yes. The resort is supposed to verify the AP at checkin, but many don't.

Definitely, but I think you have to call it in instead of doing online booking.
