Our daughters, who are 18, will be going to WDW in May for their "Spring Break trip". We will not be going as a family until August. We were planning on buying our vouchers this weekend, and letting the girls take just their vouchers with them in May to activate them, with the rest of us doing ours in Aug. I called Member Services today to see if the girls needed their own DVC member cards to activate their vouchers, and was told that we cannot, in fact, let them purchase their DVC AP's and then activate them without my husband or I being there. The reason they gave is that my husband and I are the members, not the girls. I pointed out that they live in our household, so they are members, but I guess this doesn't qualify them.

Has anyone else experienced this? Or have a solution?

The girls are eligible, as they live in your household. Send a copy of your DVC Card, a copy of your Drivers License and make sure the girls' drivers license match your address. Member service was correct on one thing, the girls' are not members, you are...but they are immediate family living at the same address.

Wow, I'm glad you brought this up. My DH and I got our DVC APs along with my younger son a few weeks ago. My older DS is away at college and couldn't join us, so when I got home, I ordered his voucher to activate when I gets there. I guess I better send my card and a copy of my drivers license with him when he goes next month.
My original though was that our address is already in the system from our trip- they could always cross reference, but I'd rather not take chances.

Thank you SO much, Chuck! The way you explain it makes perfect sense. We will continue as planned to buy the vouchers this weekend. :)
