DVC AP question?

Before my question, here's a short back story. About 15 years or so ago, we purchased a AP voucher for my son, since he was scheduled to make another trip with his friend's family. Well, when we arrived at the hotel discovered that I had forgotten the voucher at home and had to purchase an AP for him at the park. We decided to just hold on to the voucher until we were able to use it. We now have 3 trips scheduled in the next year, so it's time to use the voucher.

Now, here's my question. We have become DVC members in the meantime and now we can get a discounted AP. Is there anyway I can convert the AP voucher I have into a DVC AP and get the discount? Although I don't remember what I paid for the voucher, I'm sure it was less than a DVC AP costs now, so I'm thinking it can't be done, but I just wanted to check to see if there's something out there that I'm not aware of. If it makes any difference, I will also be purchasing an additional DVC AP, so I would be exchanging the voucher for 2 DVC AP's.

TIA

AP vouchers don't expire so you should be able to exchange it for an actual AP.

Thanks for your response

Yes, I'm aware of this. I wanted to know is there is a way to exchange the voucher, receive the current value of an AP and then purchase a DVC AP at the discount price and apply the money saved towards an additional DVC AP for my wife.

Like I said in my original post, I really doubt if it can be done, but the people on this board know way more than I do, so they may be more familiar with this situation.

I don't believe so. You could do that with unused tickets, but not an AP. Theoretically, even if you could do that AP to DVC AP transaction, they don't give any refunds. You can use your voucher at its purchased value to get a DVC AP, I think, or to get a regular AP.

You may want to post over on the theme parks board, Cheshire Figment is a cm and he is good with ticket questions, he has a "sticky" at the top of that board.

One other little snafu you might want to check on. If your voucher was purchased before AK opened, he might not be able to use it at that park. I know that was the case with hopper tickets purchased before that park opened. Not sure about APs though.

It's just like if you trade in a more expensive ticket for an AP. You lose the extra money. They don't give you any money back. You basically have a ticket. You exchange a ticket for another ticket and get an even exchange or pay extra to upgrade it.

Wow, you really know how to make my heart skip a beat....;) I hadn't even thought of that. But, I checked my voucher when I got home and it is actually only 9 years old and it includes AK. (I really have no concept of time...It seemed much longer) Thanks

This is pretty much what I expected to hear. It was worth a shot, though.

Thanks everyone for your responses. I always appreciate the time you all take to help.

Actually, with all the price increases, it is probably a bargain even compared to those with the DVC discount!

According to Cheshire Figments ticketing FAQ the current policy allows old tickets into newer parks, so your safe either way ;)

You do have the option of upgrading to a PAP which gets you a 20% merchandise discount if you buy enough.
