Has anyone recently bought a DVC annual pass? Ours have lapsed since we can't travel to the US and we wondered that should we actually be allowed back can we buy a DVC Platinum pass. I'm note sure if we're technically renewing or not. Just looking for any info - can't face calling Disney and being on hold for ages when we're not sure when we can come back!

Did it expire during the closure of the parks? If so, you are eligible for a recovery AP. However, other people have posted that since Disney announced that APs would be back in time for the 50th Anniversary (so by October 1), they haven't been able to purchase the recovery APs.

You have until 30 days after your pass has expired to renew. If it's been more then 30 days, you would have to purchase a new AP and Disney is not selling new APs yet.

So, my fiancé's DVC platinum pass (we usually just get gold but we purchased platinum for a 2020 trip that fell during blackout dates that never happened because of Covid) was set to expire 7/31/21. We have a September trip and wanted to be able to make park pass reservations together back in May (my pass is valid until 2/2022). So when he called in May they told him he could not renew until 30 days before expiration (so end of June). We didn't want to wait that long in case park reservations were still limited, so they extended his pass until our check-out date (9/12/21) for free. Well, this morning I used the chat function on MDE to ask about renewal and they said he cannot renew his AP. In hindsight, we should have just let his AP expire on 7/31/21 and renewed in June. Now we are stuck in some limbo waiting for them to announce the new passes which I am sure will be a significant price increase/limitations. SO FRUSTRATING.

Renewal is 60 days prior or 30 days after. That pass is still in its renewal window. Chat is wrong so have him call MS and renew it and he should be allowed to renew to gold.

You are correct- the chat person was wrong. DVC renewed it right away when I called members services 5 minutes ago. The misinformation with the chat CMs is astounding. But oh well....

I have noticed Chat has wrong info on a couple of occasions too. I have a feeling it's mainly because things are changing so fast, no one has all the info. For me, what has worked best is to call the area I'm dealing with, tickets, my dis experience, DVC whatever it may be. The only difference will be when they start selling ap's again. we are FL. residents and only going trough DVC can one avoid proving you are who you say when going to park first time.

I'm not sure I completely understand what you're saying. Even DVC members who renew their DVC APs over the phone have to go to GR to show their blue card and photo ID before entering a park the first time with their renewed AP.

I got dvc and or fl. discount stuff before on the phone. due to DVC has all your info. I haven't gotten a new AP in a couple years, but I used to get them by calling DVC. I could be wrong but I know for this year I got fl resident discount tickets through them.

Yes, you can buy a DVC AP by calling DVC MS, but you still have to go to GR with blue card and ID before it will work to let you in the park.

thanks! I carry that stuff with me all the time anyway, along with a copy of tickets. ( I have learned over the years any disney Tech is not to be totally trusted. )

Ours was to expire in September. I called DVC and was able to renew in July. Online, this was not an option. From recent posts, it sounds like they are not doing that now.

I have read that too. Maybe when the passes are on sale again they will change how early you can renew

The 60 days was due to FP booking. With the reservation system maybe they will start allowing 90 to 120 days or so???

Or, won’t be needed when capacity limits are no longer there so getting a park day won’t be an issue.

You've never been able to renew DVC passes online, it's by phone or in person at WDW only. Tourist (non-discounted) and FL Resident annual passes can be renewed online.
