I am thinking of getting the DVC annual pass since I plan on visiting twice this year. I've never done an AP. IfI purchase it ahead of time, I'll get a confirmation number that will allow me to book FP+ correct? Then when I go to the parks for the 1st time they get activated and that is when the year starts? Also, they will be hooked up to my magic band as well? I'm not sure how the redemption process works. Can someone fill me in? Thanks!

Everything you said is correct :) you buy it online, it will be hooked up with MDE so you can do FP+ and it will be on your magic band. You will have to go to guest services at one of the parks or Disney Springs to activate it on the day you first want to use it. Have done this several times, never had any issues.

Oh you can do it in Disney Springs as well? Does everyone need to be present when I get the tickets? I'm getting them for my family as well but not everyone may come out first night.

Disney's policy is that all persons be present when you activate APs at WDW. All adults (ages 18+) also need to show a photo id which has the same address as the member (who needs to show their DVC Membership Card).

I've always wondered.... What is stopping people from saying they are 17, thus dodging the ID requirement??
(Other than the honor system)

Nothing much, other than once Disney gets you in their system as a child, they keep all the data. So if you've been a child guest in the past, they already know your age.

And that's fine... that would likely mean it's a legit DVC pass.

I'm talking about the peeps trying to cheat the system.

So I'm thinking of buying the DVC AP with the 13 month expire this time around as well. However, I already have my magic band for trip coming up in 3 weeks and I have an old 10 day no expire pass with how ever many days are left attached to the MB.

I call MS and they told me if I order the AP they can make it a priority for usage, but I'm very leary of that actually working and wouldn't know until I get to the entrance and go to guest services. Anyone have any experience or opinions on the this?

Thanks,

Just to clarify, I can not buy tickets for my parents if they do not have an ID that shows the same address as me?

The DVC priced annual passes are only for the member and immediate family members that reside with the member. All adults (18+) must show a photo id that has the same address as the member.

Do they reside with you? If so, there can be other ways to prove that, but the requirement is that they live with you.
