Is there any price difference compared to buying the discounted AP online or doing it in person when we get there?

Just added another vacation for next year which would make getting an AP the smarter choice, so just wanted to double check that there is no difference between buying in advance or waiting.

The price is the same. If you buy online now, you will get today's price. If you wait until you get there, and there is a price increase, you will pay the new rate.

As Bill noted, if you purchase on-line (or call MS) you get the current price. You can also pre-purchase an exchange voucher if you want to spread out the cost of multiple APs.

Either way, you will still have to go to a Guest Services or Theme Park Ticket window to get your actual AP so there's really no time savings by pre-purchasing.

Exchange vouchers don't expire.

Either way is fine. Just make sure to have your current Annual pass on you.

I renewed my annual pass on-line and got the voucher in the mail. When I redeemed the voucher at MK guest services, they asked for my photo ID and my expired annual pass.

If you do it on-line, make sure that you are getting the discount. I was dumb and purchased it at the wrong price. The CM at MK caught my mistake and refunded the $101 difference onto a Disney Gift Card

You should be okay. The most recent price increase was just this past August.

Can I purchase a AP renewal online? And would the renewal date be the date I renew or when the old one expires?? I have one that expires late Nov. 2010, have plans to go to WDW in March 2011 and in July/Aug 2011 so thought a renewal of my AP would be the most cost effective way to go.

You can renew at the member price thru the passholder website. The renewal would be dated from the expiration date of the pass that's renewed.
