We soon hope to be DVC members at BLT (just waiting for the FEDEX box). :)

hypothetical question:

If we book a trip and invite another family (not DVC members) to share a two-bedroom can only one family (them) get the meal plan? Or does everyone in the reservation get the meal plan?

Everyone on the reservation must get the meal plan for the length of stay.

HTH

thanks.

another hypothetical -

If we go for 7 days and split the reservation - make two reservations - one for 4 days and one for 3 days - then get the meal plan for only the 4 days -

do the meals "expire" on the fifth day. Or will they be available for the 3 day reservation as well.

(I hope that makes sense).

You'd be better off getting a 1br and studio or two studios so that just one family can book the plan, if the plan is a must-have.

I can't get two studios - my family is a family of 5.

And that would be using way too many points anyway.

The meal plan is not a must-have. We just figured since we have the kitchen we would not have to eat out every night.

thanks for the responses. :)

If you make two separate reservations, they cannot be linked. That means you have to check out and check in and you will have to move to another villa.

Dining credits expire at midnight on your check-out day.

Check-out day of the reservation you bought the plan for.

You may have to move to another villa, keeping the same is not guaranteed but not impossible. I had a non-linked reservation once and had to check-out and check back in but did not have to move.

If you're a DVC member staying on pts, do you qualify for the free dining upgrade that is currently being offered?

No, free dining requires a full priced room reservation and ticket purchase from Disney Travel/Central Reservations.

You can split it by time as separate NON LINKED reservations and as noted, you MAY have to move but you will have to check in again the day of changeover. You could get the meal plan for either part but also as noted, the credit are only good for the days of that segment expiring at MN on changeover day. You can get separate units of a 1 BR and studio or 2 1 BR units. IF you get a 1 BR and studio, they may or may not be attached but you could get the meal plan for one unit and not the other. This would be more points but not that much more. You would NOT be able to share the credits for the meal plan with the other people though.
