Are DVC members still allowed to purchase the DDP for less nights than their stay and without tickets?

You generally have to purchase the DDP for all nights and for all guests. I suppose if you wanted to do a split stay, you could do the DDP for only one leg of the stay.

If you have different needs, I would skip the DDP and just use the DVC discount - assuming you have a blue card, or an AP discount, or a TAbles In Wonderland card. These are much more flexible.

There is no requirement to buy tickets. Although if you do have tickets, you can book fast passes starting 60 days out from your first day of your stay.

Oh, I was thinking DVC was allowed to purchase if for as many nights as they chose, but I guess the split stay thing would work.

3 or 4 years ago, they did experiment with less nights by booking multiple reservations, some with dining, some without but it turned into a mess with keys/bands not working and it was scrapped.

A split stay means you move to a different resort or a different size villa. You can't stay in the same villa and get the dining plan for the first reservation and not the second. You gotta move.

That’s not true. I’ve done it this past October.

I had 5 consecutive days in a studio at BCV and booked it as three separate stays (2/2/1), and I had the dining plan for the very last day only.

It wasn’t an issue at all, and I didn’t have to move rooms.

Did you do any tricks like booking the reservation in different names? Or did you have different people in the room for each reservation?

Member Services has been known to combine continuing reservations. When one of those has a dining plan, they cancel a d refund it, usually without bothering to let you know.

I booked it online as three different reservations (last day was booked like a month after the other two). I also called in later and told them that I didn’t want the reservations merged. I think I had them mark it as a continuing reservation so that I wouldn’t have to switch rooms. I don’t think I had different names on the rooms, but it’s possible I did that.

The only issue I had was they locked me out of my room one morning. I went to do laundry and it was at the time when they were switching over from one reservation to the other.

If you’re going to be at the Parks, it’s not an issue. If you’re hanging out at the resort and no one else is in the room, it’ll require a quick trip to the lobby to fix.

After that issue, I’ve made it a habit to make sure the magic band still opens the door before I close the door.

How much is the DVC discount? Does it work at all restaurants? (I have a blue card). Thanks

Mainly 10%. There is a downloadable PDF on the DVC site but it's out of date because it doesn't include O'hana and others. It doesn't work at all restaurants and it only works at v limited counter service.
