DVC and promotions?

Hi all,

If we own DVC and say Disney is running a promotion like a free meal plan, can we get that as DVC owner or is it for “regular” bookings?

Sorry no, to get that from Disney you need to pay list prices for hotels and buy ticket packages. With DVC you just get very low cost for your lodging.

Disney's resorts division runs those promotions to increase bookings of rooms that they own.

When you are a DVC member and you're making reservations with your points at a DVC resort, you're booking room inventory that the DVC membership owns. It's a completely separate pool of room inventory.

To put it another way, when you book DVC resorts with your points, you're not dealing with Disney's resorts division - the people who are offering those promotions - at all. They don't get any money from your stay, so they've got no reason to give you free dining or tickets or anything else.

You certainly can get the free dining or other promotions. You just have to follow their rules. You cannot book using your DVC points. You must book a rack rate reservation through Disney Reservation Center including tickets for a minimum stay.
