DVC and Park Parking?

I'm just a bit confused about park parking and DVC membership benefits.

I was certain that I read that parking at all 4 theme parks was included in DVC member benefits, but on our last trip the parking attendant asked for a room key (we were at the Dolphin, so it was covered. I couldn't find my room key at first, so I just grabbed the DVC membership card).

Is free parking only available if you are using points on a stay (or staying at a Disney resort of course!) or is theme park parking included in the membership? Do APs give parking benefits?

I probably don't need to know this-I probably will never go further from a non-Disney resort than the Swan/Dolphin(where we had excellent experiences! Good weekend place to save those DVC points!!) but it's always good to be informed!!!

Free parking at Theme Parks is not a DVC perk- it is included for anyone staying at a Disney Resort (including DVC Resorts). Each onsite guest will receive a parking pass that provides free parking at all WDW Theme Park.

DVC Members do get free Valet Parking where offered at DVC Resorts. You can use your room ID (with "DVC Member" printed) or your DVC Membership card. Either form of ID will be accepted.
