I'm not 100% familiar with the new ADR cancellation policies for certain restaurants, I can't find anything about it on this site (saw something briefly about it on the other site:goodvibes), but I'm wondering if the new rules are the same for DVC members? TIA

The new ADR cancellation policies are for a select number of restaurants and are applicable for ADRs made after 10/26/2011, regardless of if you are a guest at Disney or not (so in other words, no difference for DVC members).

There is a list on the Disney Restaurant subforum here along with specific details, but in short, if you do not cancel 24 hours in advance, your credit card used to secure the reservation will be charged $10 per person.

Thank you. I'm thinking I'm not going to like this new policy. With the way a Disney vacation can be so fast paced, involving many in a travel party, with so much going on, changes come up unexpectedly last minute quite often. Being "married" to a dining reservation or being charged doesn't make much sense to me. I'm a planner, through and through, so I'll wait to see how this is going to work out for me and everyone else before I drop the mallot on how I feel about it...

I love the idea of securing reservations with a credit card and often have to at popular restaurants outside of Disney World. It will also cut down on the number of "multiple reservations" where people book mulitple reservations so they can "decide" on that day.

I understand the hesistation, but the penalty is fairly small and it's just a dinning reservation, not an entire resort stay, I think most could suffer through a dinner or at least order it to go if they "had to."

What am I missing about this theory? It is my understadnnig now that the online dining reservations do not allow for multiple bookings. Correct?

If I have a dinner reservation and I try to make another reservation within the same time/date, the system chalks up a message asking me if I want to cancel my existing reservation.

I am not looking for the secret trick to make mutlitple reservations, I am just wondering if people are not aware of the way the online dining system works now.

I agree with you...this reservation system has been abused for years and it is about time they did something...:goodvibes

There are so many ways to trick the system, apply different e-mail addresses, phone numbers, etc. It's not hard at all and people still do it. And you can, logistically have more than one reservation open if your party is split between restaurants (which is fine).

This will also help discourage people booking larger tables than they need (ie. booking a table of 6 because it is available and a table of 4 is not, even though they need a table of 4).
