I want to use my DVC points to book the rooms for my intimate wedding but I just realized that there will be a month difference between when I can book the room and the wedding.
For those of you who used DVC points to book your room, did they allow you to book the wedding a year before or did you have to wait till you could book your room (11 months before)?

Thanks

I'm not a DVC owner, but I think I can answer your question.

The "new" rule is that you must have your room reservations when you book your FTW.

But don't panic! :teeth: You can easily plan your intimate wedding 11 months out. I did mine in 5 months, and I have heard of others doing it in less time!

The thing is, you might want to let your guests know as soon as possible so they can sort of start their planning.

Call DFTW to find out for sure...to be honest, I think if you are considering the WP as your location, I think you can't book it (for an intimate) until 8 months out (but I could be wrong about that).

I really don't think it will be a problem to wait until 11 months out. The only situation where it might be a concern is if you are dead set on a certain date, location, AND time. Then again, I was not flexible with any of those, and I was able to book my DFTW 90 days out. (I might have just been very lucky.) You can call at 12 months, and start talking to someone about your plans. This way, you can reserve your date the same day as your hotel reservations without having to wait for an EM to be assigned. Good luck!

Another option would be to book the required 4 nights at one of the value resorts, such as Pop Century. You only have to pay for the first night as your deposit. Then you can book your wedding. Once the 11 month window opens for DVC, book there & cancel the Value resort. Then call your EM & let them know of the change. You'll get your deposit back from the 1 night you've paid for so nothing is lost & you have your wedding booked at 12 months out as planned..

Thanks for the replies. I am pretty flexible with the date so I don't think that waiting an extra month will be a big deal. But evedien's idea does sound good too. Well, I have two months left before I can do anything so it doesn't matter now. I am just so excited I want to book it and be done with it.
