DVC and DME?

Confused about some of the old information about this in previous posts.
If someone could please clarify, if we rent DVC points does that mean we're relying on the member to make magical express reservations for us? How does that work? Would they have to forward the luggage tags to us then?

If you purchase a reservation from a DVC member (called "renting points"), you can do nothing for the reservation. You can't make a request. You can't add the dining plan and you can't add ME. The member maintains control of the reservation until the moment you check in. So you notify the member that you want ME, give them your information and they notify ME.

Yes, the member will make the reservations for you, but they should give DVC member services YOUR address and the tags will be sent to you. I made a reservation for friends of ours and they just got their tags from ME - sent directly to them.

The member makes the reservation (and adds DME), but the reservation has your name and address on it. So the DME tags and vouchers will be sent directly to you.

I rented points and was told to add my DME by calling 866-599-0951. The place I rented from said not to mention renting points because it causes confusion. That is what I did and it was able to do this part myself.
