DVC and Dining Plan

We will be renting a DVC property in Sept. I would like to add the DDP to it but am getting conflicting information.

Some say we can, others say we can not.

Can we call Member Services and add the DDP to our reservation? Do we need the person we rented points from to handle this?

Any help is greatly appreciated

Yes you can add it on but the person who owns the points needs to do it. So if you are renting have them call and add it on. They should be used to dealing with these things if they rent.

When you rent, all interaction with member services must be made through the owner. The renter cannot call member services since they are not the member on the reservation.

You can't do anything in regard to this reservation, like adding Magical Express or dining or making a request. Only the member can do that.

also, just FYI in case there was any question - there is no "free dining" on points stays...not ever.

Also, effective later 2010 the DDP must be payed for at the time it is added to the reservation (at least 48 hours in advance of check-in), this is a change over current and prior years where it could be paid at check-in.

The member we are renting from contacted Member Services and added the Dining Plan to our reservation. I offered to pay up front but the response was...

"Your dining plan was added and you will pay at check in"

For now this is true, but it is important to note for others who may view this post later that this is in the process of being changed.
