The 48 hours is for adding or deleting the DDP. I never really had a problem before, but our last trip, we wanted to cancel our DDP at checkin and AKV could not do it. Not even a manager. DVC was closed, and the AKV front desk told me the policy is 48 hours and they tried but the computer would not let them remove the plan completely.
We kept it, and it all worked out.
I have not had this issue at SSR, but maybe because AKV is new.
I will observe the 48 hour just to avoid the front desk problems
