I was thinking about joining dvc and was wondering if anyone could shed some light onto something. I know people who own at marriott, ect, can purchase extra weeks a resorts, either last minute or during slow times, through II, as a DVC member is their anything similer if you join II or can you only trade your points for resorts. Thanks for any advice.

you are talking about the getaway weeks.

DVC doesn't allow that - DVC has a corporate membership. Another words you aren't a member of II. Disney is the member.

but then again you don't pay the annual fees and exchange fees - $139 (exchange) and $84 (fee for II). you would only pay $95 to exchange to II.

to get the getaways you need to be a member of II.

not the answer i was hoping for but thatnks for the info none the less.
You can buy a non DVC week and join either RCI or II to do that. If you're thinking of picking up additional DVC weeks, they aren't available that often and tend to be fairly high in price.

but i could only do that if i was a member of an II resort correct, and i cant join II if I own DVC correct? Thanks

correct.

go join a much less expensive (both price and maintence fees) to join II than DVC or Marriott for that matter.

And you can often trade in to DVC if you want.
