Are they on the 6th floor? We were on the Fifth floor. I had the experience of having my reservation cancelled on the day we got there. :confused3 We did have access to the CL.

If I didn't have a concierge studio, are they any different than a savannah view studio? It was overlooking sunset savannah.

Bobbi:)

The club rooms are on the 6th floor. We stayed in a studio for two nights before moving across the hall to a 1br for the rest of our trip last year.

I think the rooms are the same as the others in Jambo House but I will say that I felt like the studio room we were in was a bit on the small side so maybe there is a difference in sq. footage.

I'm sorry they canceled your reservation on you. I'm happy you still had access to the lounge. I hope it was still fun.

The CL rooms at Jambo are all on the 6th floor. It sounds like they gave you something else, but gave you access to the lounge.

I don't have any idea about what happened to my original reservation and I've chatted with Joy from Member Satisfaction, and she manually removed some points that went into holding due to the fact that the reservation was cancelled. The e-mail that I got from Member Services just states that...

"...From time to time, due to unexpected circumstances, the Resort may need to make necessary changes to a reservation. This is not a standard policy and we apologize for any inconvenience. "

When we checked in a remark was made that sounded like "you will have access to the lounge" that made me first realize that something wasn't quite as it should be. When I got home, I found in my activity statement a "cancelled" reservation that was my original one and there were points in holding in my account. I was looking at the maps of AKV here and thought that maybe we weren't really staying in the concierge section of the villas, and we weren't!

DH and I especially liked the Sunrise Safari!

Did you get the other concierge services? Fresh towels daily, maid service daily, packages delivered right to your room instead of the gift shop, etc?

They cancelled your reservation? Geez! Did you get the points back? I see where you said they were in holding, but what points did they use for your stay?

I'm guessing you did NOT get the other services from concierge like turn down and daily maid service. If not, you probably should have also gotten a points refund back to the non CL savanna view point chart. Is that what they did?

So how was your savanna view? Things may have actually worked out in your favor if you got a good savanna view, something you cannot get from the 6th-floor rooms. It is more convenient to access the lounge from a 6th floor room but view-wise, it's not the best location.

Is Spoodles closed?
I see that a car cora is going in there. Will not miss it ate there 3 times.

First time it was not good.We went back thinking it was a bad night.
Second time it was no better.
Third time we had no other choice (should have known why it was not crowded)
All thre times food was tasteless and the service was sub standard.

Only good thing was walk up pizza window.

We didn't have maid service the first day full day, but the each night there was turn down service and after that there was maid service.

Just a wild guess on my part regarding how it happened, I wonder if it's because I checked in on line.

According to the e-mail from MS, we paid the full price of concierge, but as of this morning, I am not sure the points are correct. There are no points in holding.

As far as the view, it was fine, Sunset savannah. I understand that the villa above us on the 6th floor would have had a relatively worse view.

We have a one night CL stay in September because we want to do the Wildlife Discovery Expedition. We did enjoy the CL experience, and I am hoping that sometime in the future, DH and I can have about a week there, and such a week that we can enjoy the amenities of the resort. Even at our slower pace of doing things, we still had too much planned! Part of the "problem" is that the Flower and Garden only has the workshops and speakers on Friday/Saturday and Sunday. By the way, in the hand's on workshop, we all got to take home a tiny banana plant!

PS. As far as Spoodles, my DGFs and I ate there on Wednesday last week. Two of us had lemon shrimp with pasta and the other pork tenderloin. All was yummy!

WOW, Bobbi! I'm glad that things were mostly corrected, but that is unfortunate. CL rooms are so hard to get! But it may be true that your view was better NOT being in a CL room. Supposedly at least some of the 6th floor rooms facing the savanna are kind of blocked by the thatched roof.
I doubt that we will ever get a chance to do the Sunrise Safari, since we don't own at AKV, but we would love that opportunity. Glad you enjoyed it!

I didn't find the thatched roof to be a problem, at least not when we were actually out on the balcony. The bigger issue is that the 6th floor puts you above the level of the tree tops and they block large portions of the view. There were times when we thought there were no animals on the savanna when in fact there was a giraffe quite close to our balcony but our view was completely blocked by tree tops. The view improves greatly once you are below treetop level, making even the 5th floor much better than the 6th floor. The other factor is exactly which room you get and how many trees there are between your balcony and the nearest feeding area.

The ostriches are a hoot! One was always walking around being nosey. Everything in the perimeter area was of interest. We could see a giraffe feeder and once in awhile one would come. The animal we saw the most just hung around the are, he ate, slept and walked around the grassy area by the sunset lounge.

Our room was in the lobby area of the fifth floor. Because there seemed to be 5 lock offs, I did think that maybe DVC's concierge rooms were there, on the fifth floor. If we walked nearly straight out of our room, we could cross the foot bridge that's over the lobby.

Another reason that I wasn't sure about the placement of concierge rooms is that there is a gated stairway leading up to the lounge from the fifth floor. So some rooms on the 5th must be considered concierge, no?

There are Animal Kingdom Lodge concierge rooms on the 5th floor. I stayed with friends there last summer, we were put in a pool concierge room and we were disappointed. We asked if we could move to a non-concierge savannah view room and still have lounge access, they said no. My friend was really disappointed, it was her 50th birthday trip. She asked again the next morning if anything was available and somehow they were able to give us the handicapped 1 bedroom with the savannah view for the following 3 nights.

Not any longer. Before most of the 5th and all of the 6th floor of AKL were converted to AKV, the AKL concierge guests could stay on the 5th floor as well as the 6th floor. Those on the 5th floor could use their room keycard to access the gated stairway that goes between those two floors. After the conversion, AKL concierge was moved to the 4th floor and the 6th floor rooms became AKV Concierge villas. The 5th floor is now primarily AKV Standard View and AKV Savanna View rooms but there are also two AKL suites and a few AKL standard view (parking lot view) rooms.

There are the same number of 2BR lockoffs running along each side of the lobby on the 5th and 6th floors, though the order of studios and 1BRs is slightly different on the savanna view side.
