DVC AK 2BR "Value" category question

I can't find much info on this but I know someone on here will know!

What is a "value" 2BR at AKL? (they are at the Lodge not at Kidani, right?)

I'm assuming is a 1br lockoff that combines with one of the value studios. Please correct me if I am wrong!

I'm putting together my "wish list" for reservations for a family of 5 for next Feb. Do these go really fast?

We're locked in at SSR but could spend an extra night if we go with a less expensive room somewhere else.

Yes it is a lock off 1 bed and studio combined only at Jambo and very limited in number only 10. It may have a pool, savanah or parking lot view request not taken. They go very fast and if not a AKV member the chances are slim.

We got a 2br value at AKL and don't own there. We only needed 2 nights though, I agree with PP that if you wanted 5/6 nights in a 1br value, it might be very tough to come by if you don't own there.

Thanks so much for the info. That is pretty much what I expected. I can't make the reservation until July so it is likely they will be all gone, especially since we'll be going around President's day.

My other lower points option is to try for a 1BR at OKW or 1BR at BWV though I hear the standard view at BWV fills up fast too.

I actually will have enough points to do 8 nights at AKV if we can get a standard 1BR. Let me guess, they are also hard to come by.

Any ideas?

Give the wait list a try. We are owners at AKV and OKW and we were down at WDW this last Christmas / New Years. When I made the reservations we wanted a value 1-bedroom from 12/19 to 12/30 , and a studio at one of the Epcot resorts for 12/30 and 12/31. When I booked they did not have availability in the value 1 br. for 12/24 - 12/27, or any studio in Epcot for the 30th and 31st. I did have backup reservations for those dates, though.

I first wait listed for BWV garden view studio and BCV studio. Several months later the BCV studio became available and was booked. I then wait listed for the AKV 1 br value and was able to fill in the last three days in November 2010.

So - if one can get a Beach Club studio for NYE and a value 1-bedroom for Christmas anything is possible !

Call at the 7month window. I think you might have a chance. Just got back from a 1BR value and my inlaws were in a 2BR value for a week (both not members). They had 6 adults and 2 under 3 in the 2BR and I never heard any complaints. They even had the parking lot view, which was pretty serene.
