Duty on Magic Bands (For Canadians)

I know I have rocks in my head for ordering the custom DVC 25th anniversary magic bands. over $30 (CDN) to ship them, with a total bill of around $100.

Just letting you know, they charge duty on top of that! I'm heading over to pick it up this afternoon, so I am not sure exactly how much.

If the Magic Bands are made in the U.S. which I think they are, importation would be duty free under NAFTA.

That's likely duty, plus GST, PST, QST and/or HST. It's the same as buying almost anything else from the US and having it shipped in. Even if they were made in the US, they'd be duty free, but the taxes would still apply.

Duty is a $10 flat fee plus what they believe the taxes would be so $12.99. I'd guess you ordered 4 MBs. Try ordered a Dooney online from Disney. $65 shipping plus $80 in duty on a purse that's already over $200. Thanks mail service/Disney.

They'd value the bands at whatever was paid for them. Remember, they don't ship the free bands to Canada. These are bands that were bought and paid for, just like any other merchandise that Disney would ship to you.
