Duty free or liquor store

Is buying alcool cheaper at Duty free or at liquor store? I don't drink so I never bothered but then a friend of mine asked me.
They rented close to Disney World
and they want to buy some things to do coktails (guess she will figure that she is too tired for that after a day in the parks...). I need your experience to give back a good advice.Thanks

Duty free prices are usually cheaper, but there are exceptions. For example, if you take the land crossing from Ontario to Akwesasne, duty free prices on wines are not cheaper, but duty free prices on liquor and liqueurs are cheaper. So it really depends on where and how you cross the border.

If you are talking about duty free prices at a Canadian airport duty free store vs. prices at a US liquor store, I think the answer would still be that it depends. For example, we recently purchased 1.75 L. Bottles of vodka at ABCFWS in Orlando for $20 US. There's no way you could get that amount of vodka for that price at a Canadian duty free shop, but if the brand matters to you, the prices on premium brands were higher and the price difference was less.

Not an easy question to answer! You could refer your friend to the website for ABC Fine Wines and Spirits so she could look at the prices and decide for herself.

And, there's a limit on the amount of duty free you can purchase, 1.14 L. of alcohol per adult.

Remember overproof alcohol is not permitted on a plane. Also, Ive found that Duty free sometimes is more expensive than a regular store. Beer and simple drinks are available at Hess ... if they can get to downtown Disney, then you can get cheap beer. otherwise its a cab ride for hard stuff like vodka etc, unless you are willing to pay Disney prices
