If you rent points to somebody, what all comes along with that? I am happy to help, but just want to make sure I understand what most people do.

Is it customary for them to keep coming to you and asking you to make changes to the requests, add dining on, remove it, add it back again, etc? if you ask somebody what all they need and they say they are good, is it normal for them to come back to you in the last few weeks before their trip and ask for a bunch of modifications.

I know this is MS's job to service the DVC members, but i dont want a red mark going by my name for calling too much and making too many changes. I also dont want MY personal reservations messed up because my account it being touched too much.

You make a good point, some renters may want to make frequent changes to ME, DDP, etc. :faint: ( can't say for sure because we haven't rented out any of our points ) Maybe set a date a week or two before their trip when they need to let you know their absolute final details on things you would need to call MS for so you'd (hopefully) just have to make one phone call?

Best wishes :goodvibes

As the owner, IMO, you should take time and decide what type of contract you want to have with the renters and be sure to clearly communicate this with the person who rents from you.

I think that all rentals are different and it really has to be the comfort of the owner.

You can be their best friend or you can be Priceline.

But if someone asked for the dining plan to be added and they paid, then asked for it to be removed, I'd tell them that might not possible. And then add it back on? Nope.

Use a contract - DVC actually requires that members use a contract - and spell it all out there. Once payment is received in full, no changes. You can offer to make one request. You can offer to add ME. You can offer them the dining plan, but they pay you before you can add it. Or whatever you like.

That goes along with renting points, you are their "landlord".

Also be sure to call a week or two after their trip to make sure they did not leave any outstanding charges. Some members have been stung with outstanding bills because of credit card problems.
