during your stay at easter / spring break do you stay on the weekends on points or do you pay cash , and if you paid cash where did you stay and what rate did you pay?

trying to decide if it is worth staying on points for the weekend or pay cash, but not sure what wdw charges during peak season

and has anyone paid cash during peak season at vero beach on the weekends?
:)

I have a reservation for a 2-br unit at BWV. Recently, I tried to get an AP rate for the weekend 12/26 and 12/27, and was told that there is absolutely nothing available at BWV since mid December. Otherwise, I would have linked the reservations between cash and point for some of my family members. I guess the cash reservation with a good discount rate is really dependent on the inventory. Same with BCV, I can get a 2-br for 12/24 with AP rate, but there is nothing afterwards.

Not sure how Easter/spring breaks' cash inventory is like.

I just made a reservation for the Friday before Easter at Vero Beach. It is costing us 44 points for an ocean view inn room. I checked out the price online through the DVC site, and the cash price was (I'm pretty sure) $350. I'm not sure what a 1 or 2 bedroom would run. I was just happy they had a room for us!:D

i just made our ressies for easter sunday - fri at the bcv, stdio with no problem and was looking for the weekend before easter to stay and the weekend after easter at vero beach, but im not sure if i should pay cash or use points.

we have to go at this time, cant take dd out of high school :(

I just booked a 2 BR at HH for the Tuesday before Easter until the Tuesday after Easter- I booked all the nights on points except Saturday night which was 84 points. Yikes! I asked MS what was the cash price for that night, it was $308 with the Member Discount so of course I booked cash for that night. So for 7 nights in a 2 BR during Easter week it cost me 196 points and $308.00 cash- watta deal!!! And MS informed me that since I booked the cash night thru MS, the reservation was guaranteed that I wouldn't have to switch rooms for the night.
As I told my DS age 6, only 28 weeks to go!!!!

thanks i will keep that in mind, we are going to stay at HH in 2005 for easter, dfl will taking his boat up the east coast that year and we are going to meet at HH, he will be staying at shelter cove marina. i cant wait. please give us a trip report when you get back, especially on the weather;)

We tend to do what Macnjac do, a little of both. I never have enough money and I definitely never have enough points, so I usually do a "combo" deal. If a whole weekend is too many points, I will do one night points and one night cash. If it's at the beginning of a trip, we sometimes stay somewhere "cheap" first -- I love Riverside -- but moving is a hassle because we are a group of 4.

Being able to combine cash and points is a great thing, and folks here swear to me that most times, you can stay right in the same room. I am getting spoiled and don't want to stay "non DVC" - -I LOVE the fridge and microwave!

Easter 2003 I combined, since points are so very high during this time period. We stayed at POFQ for the first Fri and Sat and then 8 nights at WLV 2BR. I used a DC rate since no other discounts were availabel at that time. I think I paid$158 per night with the discount.
After that experience I discovered that it really isn't that big a deal to switch so for next summer we will be making a few moves. I'll start out at US/IOA for 2 nights (FOTL) then Sun-Th studio at BCV, 2 nights in a modearate at rack or deluxe with a discount, Sun-Thurs 1 BR at OKW and finally last night at value or DTD with a discount--our plane leaves early so I only need a quick place to crash! If I skip weekends I can make another trip with the points and stay in the studio for another 5 days.
