Duplicate ssn card for DS?

Add this to my list of reasons I have to get my life organized, but I don't know where DS15's ssn card is. I know we got one right after he was born, but we moved since then and I have not seen it since he was a baby. I have no doubt it is somewhere...probably in the basement, but the chances of finding it are slim.

How hard is it to get a duplicate ssn card?

It looks like he will need it for his temps, which he will get this spring.

There is a form on the Social security website. Fill it out mail it in (or bring it in I can't remember) and they send you one in a few weeks. I had to do this when my card was stolen

It's just a hassle-- not hard.

You fill out the paperwork and provide the documents they request. It comes in the mail a few weeks later.

So this process will get him a duplicate copy of his same ssn card...with no soc security number change?

Everything on the website talks about "replacement card" rather than "duplicate card".

You are looking for a replacement card. You lost yours, so you need to replace it. If you are near a ssn office, you can get a temporary same day. (Btdt when we went to get dd's driver's permit. But I didn't realize it was missing until THE day.)
