It's been 8 years since we've been to WDW. We stayed at Port Orleans riverside because it was the only moderate resort that would fit 5 of us at the time. We will be going again soon, but this time it's for a soccer tournament are required to book through a travel agency and required to stay at certain resorts. I think the options will be All Star sports, Caribbean Beach and Coronado. I'm not sure we actually have an individual choice and it's likely the entire team will stay at the same resort. This is a travel team and not a school team. I don't have all the information yet, but the majority of the team thinks each family will get a room so the boys are with their parents. I know one of the resorts has a pull down bed for a 5th person, but it's only 63". They are 3 teens and the shortest is 5'6". We've given them their own room at hotels in the past, but we always had a key to the kid's room and they had one to ours even with connecting rooms. At 15, 15 & 16, I expect they will not be with us constantly and with the room key also being park admission and maybe used for dining, we can't just swap bands or cards. Is it possible for us to get a duplicate key card used for the sole purpose of entering our kid's rooms and for them to get one for our room?

Yep. They can still issue old Key to the World type cards to be used to access the door

In addition to @AngiTN's suggestion for Key to the World card, it is my understanding that room access is separate to everything else on the magic band, and that it would be technically feasible for the front desk to grant access to several rooms for the same MB. Note that I've never done this, and even if it's doable, I'm not sure every cast member would know/have acess to the back-office options to set this up.

This is not possible.

As mentioned, not possible. Been there, done that. One room at a time only.

Thanks for the replies. I had a feeling it would be only 1 room for 1 magic band, but as long as we can get extra plastic cards for the room only that's fine. Connecting rooms are never guaranteed and even when we get one, the connecting door could get closed from their side. That normally doesn't happen, but if it does and someone inside is sleeping, they are almost impossible to wake. We feel better with everyone having access to both rooms. My other concern is Disney allowing 3 teens to occupy a room without and adult. We would normally book my husband and the boys in one room and my daughter and myself in the other. Then my husband and daughter switch cards, but being that they can't switch magic bands, I hope they allow 3 teens to be booked in the room together. I know school groups have 4 teens occupy a room with chaperones in separate rooms so I'm hoping this won't be a problem for us.

You'll need one adult, 18 or older, in each room.

Yes, we realize we will probably need to book 1 adult in each room, but as long as we can get extra keys for the rooms, that won't be a problem. My daughter will spend part of the trip with her school choir. They will be 4 students per room arranged by the school and their travel agency. She will then join us for 2 more nights because the school trip ends before the soccer tournament so we need a bed for her for 2 nights. None of this may matter anyway because my parents decided they may join us. If they do, my daughter can stay with them for 2 nights.
