Soo… I booked the Duo Studio at the VDH - three nights… and I think will do it again only if.. (big if):

- it is only for one night (pull down bed vs a true bed, mattress quality affects the chances of a good quality sleep)

- I don’t need to work remotely (once the pulldown bed is placed, there is pretty much no space for anything else

- It is only one luggage piece (one normal size plus a carry-on might take up available space to walk)

- No meals at the room.

I liked the walk in shower though, but overall the fewer points more required for a normal studio size are worth it!

Mind sharing your experiences with Duos at WDW pls?

My sister and I stayed in a duo studio at Poly recently and we thought they were super roomy. We had 2 owners lockers and a carry-on+ each and had the bed down the whole time and didn’t feel particularly cramped at all. I’m sure other people’s tolerance might be less but I still think it was a fair amount of room. I would definitely book it again for 2 people and I say that as someone who will often splurge on a 1bdrm for just 2 people, so this isn’t just about being point miserly.

As for the amount of time spent in that space, we were there for 3nights and I probably could’ve done a bit longer but who knows, 4 nights might’ve been too much 🤷🏼‍♀️

I just looked it up it seems like the Poly duo is 262sqft, the Riviera tower is 255sqft and the VDH duo is 250sqft. All in all maybe not a huge difference but I think the duos at WDW have the added benefit of balconies too, so perhaps the space feels even larger for that reason.

We stayed in a duo at the Poly tower for 1 night followed by 3 nights at RIV.

The Poly duo was very spacious. The dresser and wardrobe were enough that we could have stayed several days. We had a lot of luggage due to a mega split stay and had plenty of room to tuck it in the corner. The balcony was huge and had fabric chairs that were comfy, we spent a lot of time out there. Outlets were lacking and the mattress was a bit thin.

The tower studio felt a little more cramped. I really missed the dresser but there were smaller drawers in the Murphy bed wall. I missed the kitchenette. The bathroom is the star of that room, huge shower and room to move around. There were outlets in the Murphy wall but still missed the mark there. I love that the tower rooms are at the end of the hall, it was very quiet. We could see the EPCOT fireworks from our room.

We liked them both and would book them again.

The thing I like so much about the Riviera tower studios is the huge bathroom and the fact that they are in their own little nook in the building. They are in a separate hallway on each floor so there's very little foot traffic.

The main downside is with the bed down, there's not much room in the room to do anything.

While I have stayed in a tower studio for a week on several occasions, I would say they are at their best for a short stay - a long holiday weekend or something like that. The bad thing is they book up early so you can't count on them for last-minute stays, which is really where I think a room like that would shine.

I agree with your experience of the duo studio at VDH. I stayed solo for 2 nights and that was too long. I'd never stay longer than one night and never with a second person. I had room service breakfast and the person basically handed me the tray because they didn't know what to do with it. I would have been more comfortable in a motel across the street. Because of my experience, I wouldn't book another at any of the other resorts. However, the pictures of the Garden duo studio balcony above look very nice.

We stayed at the RIV duo for one night. Loved the location. We were on the 8th floor and had a fantastic view of the EP and MK fireworks. The bathroom is HUGE and awesome! It was two of us and we each had a back pack and a full sized suit case (we were moving to a different location for the rest of the week). I feel like we were always working around the suitcases because there really wasn't a good place to put them that was out of the way. Especially when the bed was open. For us, it was fine for one night, but I wouldn't want to do that again. Maybe if it was only one person and not so much luggage, it would be better.

But seriously...the bathroom was awesome!!!

plus side is that you had the option for room service. That is something that I wish they would bring back to all deluxe hotels/villas at WDW. It seems a bit ridiculous that they have not brought back room service. Even in a 2bedroom villa, we always ordered room service breakfast at least once during the week.
