Dumbo's Peanuts

Love the touch. The peanuts are that little bit extra that makes Disney what it is.

Not sure if anyone else noticed this or not, but did you see the claw marks from the Beast leading up to his castle? I almost missed this two weeks ago while walking with a little one, but we found it and squealed when we realized what we were looking at!!

I'm remembering the "avian theft" thread and wondering if the birds have broken theri beaks on this. :)

Apparently you've never been around elephants.

I guess we can be really thankful that they didn't put some other type of elephant mess in the walkways.

While I understand those with peanut allergies maybe taking a second glance at the stamped concrete I would hope that most (obviously not all) people would realize that WDW is great at creating details that give the illusion of being real. Walk down Main Street and you'll probably assume that the second floor windows are standard size. Look at Beast's castle and then dig online for a picture of it with a worker or ladder next to it in order to see the actual size. Looks at some of the "wood plank" walkways and you'll see a great example of stamped concrete. From what I've read on the DIS and other WDW sites, WDW is pretty great about sensitivity to various allergies and I'm 99.95% certain that they wouldn't willing put something out as part of an attraction that people could potentially have an allergic reaction to.

I think it is a really cute detail and one I'm looking forward to seeing.

I 100% agree with all this. Disney isn't out to scare the tiny minority out there with allergies, just to entertain everyone. I thought everyone would just assume the peanuts are fake, just like any other details Disney adds to the parks. (Heck, I even once had a professor who just insisted that the real ducks and other birds that wander the parks are animatronics, if that tells you anything.)

Although it is going to be hilarious the first time someone tries to sue Disney by claiming their kid had a reaction to the fake peanuts...

Um, peanuts are not tree-nuts, they are legumes.

Okay, then. About 1.6% of the entire US population suffers from some degree of peanut allergy. No, this statistic isn't a guess. Yes, it's easily found online. No, I don't care to search (yet) again ;).

i think it's cute. and i am amazed that anyone would think Disney would put real peanuts out there, knowing that a lot of people have peanut allergies. Disney is very on-top of allergy issues. i've met the chef at every sit-down restaurant we've visited just because i put that DS has a peanut allergy on our dining reservations. the chefs seek you out (you don't have to ask).

This is exactly what I thought and said.

I have a severe peanut (and every other nut) allergy, and I honestly thought the detail was funny and good spirited.
