Dumbo Paly area

I thought that I recalled seeing this discussed on here, but I could not get anything to come up when searching ( but I have to use my phone so it is often just me over looking it). If using a GAC or wheelchair ( or combo of both) is there a way to get on without having to see the play area. My son will not understand why he can not go play, but he loves the Dumbo ride. I was hoping that maybe some of you have been recently and have encountered this. Thanks
 
We were there in December. It's a little fuzzy
You walk thru the q. Then u approach like a cashier like your checking out. U can go straight into the play area or around to the q to wait in line

At least that is what it looked like to me.
We always went into the play area.
The part that was the line section didn't seem to have much of a line

What about fast pass option for dumbo? I would think that would skip the play area like over at the pooh ride.
We never did fast pass for dumbo since we wanted to do the play area?
 
The fastpass line for Dumbo, which I imagine is also the GAC line, goes into the circus tent where the play area is located. The play area is separated from the queue by a sort of curtained area. You can see into the play area, but you do not walk thought it.

There are no "GAC lines" at WDW. If the standby queue is wheelchair accessible, then guests use that. It's called mainstreaming. IF the OP needs to avoid the play area, then she can get FPs for the attraction.

Which...is why I said it was the same as the Fastpass line. :confused3 Sorry if my wording was confusing, but it's my understanding that, depending on the type of accommodation needed, guests using a GAC are often directed to the FP line.

GACs are a communication tool to help CMs to know what assistance is needed by a guest with a disability whose needs are not visible.
There is no 'GAC line' and what happens at an individual attraction will depend on many things like what the guests needs are, what is available at the attraction, staffing and how busy it is, including how many guests with disabilities are already waiting.
GACs actually have a printed message that says it is not meant to shorten or eliminate waits and that guests who want to shorten their wait should get a Fastpass.

To the OP, if you go into the line and get one of the 'Dumbo for the standby line, you could still wait outside of the play area. It's basically a beeper like they give out for waits in restaurants. Just explain to the CM that you need a different place to wait. There are not a lot of things someone with a wheelchair could do, but he may be able to do some.
Getting a Fastpass would give the most consistent entry. From what I have seen online with apps that show wait times, Fastpasses are not running out.
