Taking DS who is 18 months, would you do dumbo then PP or save PP for another park opening day? I don't want his first ride to be "dark", I want to ease him into it?

Dumbo is a great first ride, especially for such a little guy! He will probably enjoy it more than the dark rides anyway.
Dumbo is a slow loading ride, so do make sure to head straight for it.

Agreed. When we this Monday even though we were there at rope drop the line for PP was already too long. So we went right to Dumbo and the boys, ( 3 years old) loved it. We never did make PP as it was too crowded all day.

I definitely would do Dumbo first as you know he is sure to love it. At 2.5, my little guy did NOT like Peter Pan at all, but he loved Dumbo. When he was 4.5 I really talked up Peter Pan a LOT and convinced him that he liked it (I had him try to keep track of the rainbow and stuff like that) but in general he really doesn't like dark rides.

Yes- we do Dumbo first because my girls like it better than PP. They too get a little freaked out in some of the dark rides. Dumbo is a great start- not scary at all and shows them how much fun the day will be!

ETA- I see he is 18 months. My girls didn't start getting freaked out by things until they were older. When they were younger they just rolled with it. They didn't have the overactive imagination to make it seem scarier than it is. My 18m old even fell asleep on the HM!

Dumbo has been the first ride both my boys experienced on their first DL visit :goodvibes

I have such magical memories of those rides :wizard:
