I know we can deposit our points into Interval as an exchange. Does anyone know about depositing an interval week and getting vacation club points in exchange? It would seem you could as if DVC members are trading points in, They must come back out to interval people, Am I correct? can anyone enlighten me as to this? We recently bought Interval and have no use for the week, But, if I could trade it for DVC. I would be a happy camper. I know you are all saying then why did I buy it:rolleyes: I purchased it for day use at a local resort/ swimclub for the kids. Any info would be most appreciated.

It's not a dumb question.

People have reportedly deposited weeks into the II system from other (non-DVC) timeshares and been able to get a week(s) in a DVC resort.

However, as far as I know, you cannot deposit another timeshare week and receive actual DVC points in return. If you are lucky enough to get a DVC week, you get the week/dates that DVC deposited. DVC deposits weeks, not points. And you also pay an additonal fee. I think that is $95/week, but am not 100% sure that is the current amount.

HTH.

Well, I just finally talked to Interval. and indeed found out they it would be a week exchange, not points. However the girl was very discouraging. She said it is exteremly rare to get a disney property, unless you know somebody. Huh? I despite her telling me not a good idea, deposited the week, and have to wait a week to see if there would be a match. So who knows, people have actually gotten them though?

Yes, there have reports of people actually getting DVC via II. However, it has been rare (although some think it will be a little easier going forward since DVC "standardized" the number of points members have to deposit for a trade). My understanding is that not all that many DVC members want to trade out for II options. You need to have a very good "trader" to get a DVC week. DVC weeks are apparently snapped up quickly by those who own very popular/high demand weeks at the "best" resorts that II has to offer.

The II agent probably meant that your best chance of trading into DVC would be to arrange a "direct" trade with a DVC member who is interested in staying at your resort. Obviously, those types of trades don't go through II. You might try posting such a request on the DIS Rent/Trade Board.

I don't mean to discourage you, either, but based on what I've read here, only a very small percentage of the requests for a DVC stay get fulfilled (and those go to the "highest traders"). I'm sure that the II agent was just trying not to get your hopes up. It's possible, just not very probable.

Good luck!

Search for times outside Xmas, Spring Break, Summer and Thanksgiving and yo may have some luck. Add VB or HH if you can though be careful to only add things you'll truly be happy getting. Your best chances are for Sept through November of this year and Jan, Feb, May plus the above for next year. A small chance for this or next summer, especially if you can travel with only a few weeks notice. It partly depends on if you have a high enough trader to see what may actually be sitting there in the II bank. Good luck.

What's really funny to me about this is that several years ago we sat through a high pressured sales presentation for a timeshare in Gatlinburg. The salesman tried his best to convince us that 1 week in Gatlinburg would trade for two weeks in Disneyworld. At the time, we had two children and mentioned that we would likely spend many vacations at Disneyworld rather than in Gatlinburg and he assured us there would be no problem! Ha! Glad we walked (I mean ran) away from that deal!

Actually, if that salesperson was saying that you could trade a 2BR lockoff (or a week that qualified for a bonus week) into 2 units in the Disney area - not inside Disneyworld property - they were probably right. It could easily be done.

Trading a week (let alone 2!) into DVC is quite another story! ;)

I'd agree with Lisa. When you see timeshares listed for rent or sale that say Disneyworld, they are essentially always near WDW, some more than others. If it's DVC, they say DVC.
